Finance/free servicing terms changed

Featured Replies

Just a quick note to say I've just got back from the dealers and apparently the minimum borrow is now 50% on finance :-(

I had read it was £3000, but they've wised up to people borrowing the minimum and paying it off early and still having the free servicing.

Gutted!

But you can still pay it off just the same after the first months payment has been made, or has that also changed?

Didn't ask, was just annoyed as I wanted to keep monthly payments down. I know I'll be given cashback to put in the bank and use towards it but that'll slowly get eaten away, and I won't have enough money to pay it back too soon, the interest would be greater over the year or so I planned to pay it back in.

Yes it's 50% and as far as I'm aware it has been for a while; I sure that figure was given to me when we ordered our Monte at the end of September. Anyway that's the deal we took out and the cashback from the P/X we've using for the summer hols, rather than pay it back early. To my maths anyway, with the included servicing, my actual costs if I pay the plan out to the end, are pretty reasonable and much better than a standard bank/Skoda Finance loan even over two years, plus additional service cost on top.

I'm 99% sure I was told I had to borrow at least £3000 when I enquired a few weeks ago, that's what is most frustrating.

Thats a finanical ruling on all finance from what I understand. So yes you can still pay off.

oh - but do you still get the free servicing if you pay off early? I'm picking mine up in a week or two and could do this...

We worked out that the amount we borrowed cost less in interest than the servicing so it was a no brainer , we normally buy our cars outright

When i placed my order in December 12 that i had to put down a £3000 deposit when i pick up the car. If i wanted to keep the 3 free services i had to make at least 3 months payment before paying it off?

I too have been told that I have to make at least three payments to get the free servicing but I am confused because although I have cash to put into the deal on top of my PX, they want to give me a check for £2,500. Anyone out there understand why?

A work mate px his car and got back £2000 he wanted to pay this off the car aswell but the dealer said he could only pay upto 30% and no more the 50% deposit was for 2 years finance. So as his car that he was px ing was more than 30% and less than 50% he got £2000 back. But paid this off the finance a month later
