Edit: P.S: Apologies, I got carried away. Link is about the new models, this thread is about facelift - oops

It was bargee's fault though sir - he started it, he mentioned the toe-rag

Listen Skodalcoda chappie, there's never a worry on here about straying off the original topic to the point that if a topic does NOT stray it must be real boring - and anyway there are enought pedants populating the place to point us back in the "right" direction whatever may unfold.

Lay back and enjoy it.

Well, here's the image of the facelift & no, I couldn't find it on the website either. Jury's definitely still out though. So much for just a "nip & tuck..."

Over to you Graham!

(Quick Bargee have a look at #93 in this post....I think you got away with this one.)

I will speak on Graham's behalf if that's OK........it's a "PHOTOSHOP" and been discussed so many times before.

ARGH!!

Why won't someone inside Skoda to the decent thing and just leak some photos for us. We won't tell.....

It would not surprise me if they don't use the cheaper non multi-link rear suspension as on the Golf 7 on the next lower spec Yeti's... :wonder:

Oop, sorry Graham, you're ahead of the game as usual, I'm slowly becoming the goon of this forum, I just end up missing things by rushing! Anyway, yes as you say it IS a photoshop, but in the past 5 years or so of reading Auto Express week after week, their images are not often wide of the mark. I must admit, I thought the facelift would've been just that -a new front on what we have now, especially as its been so successful. I would have expected the MQB based proper Mk2 to be much more radical, more like these pics. Maybe they're ahead of the game & that's the MQB car. Either way, it won't get my money!

I'm actually more bothered about engine options in the facelift (says he with a £500 deposit already paid on a new L&K!)

We've gone for the TDI 140 4x4 DSG but only because DSG wasn't an option on the TDI 170 4x4.

I've heard there may / will be new efficient engines in the facelift such as the TDI 177 but no mention of whether DSG will be offered on it with 4x4.

Considering the Tiguan is already offered with both the TDI 177 4x4 AND the 'new' 7 speed DSG box, there has to be the possibility of this new Yeti being offered with the same combo?

I don't care much for what I think the new Yeti will look like - I much prefer the current shape from what I've seen, hence the deposit on the L&K. I've always been bothered that Skoda seems to be the poor relation, however, when it comes to engine and transmission choices when compared to the rest of the VAG range.

Everything I've heard from recent discussions with the sales manager at my local dealer and on here (at least based on the more credible posts and links) points to just a mild facelift with a revised grille and headlamp design but preserving the round fog-lights.

No-one seems to know at present about engine/DSG options, with suggestions that this won't become clear until at least the autumn (perhaps final decisions haven't even yet been taken for some engine options). But no-one seems very optimistic that there'll be a particularly generous choice - but maybe there'll be some surprises in store come October time. Personally I'd love to see a powerful petrol but with lower CO2 than the current 1.8TSi and with DSG - unlikely that I'd buy another diesel I think - the cost-benefit-drawbacks don't stack up for me. But Skoda just don't seem to be saying anything on this front for now.

In so much as there is any agreement on this topic, it would appear to be that a 'face-lift' will be just that: no major changes to main panels or fittings, probably the new corporate grill with asociated light cluster changes and new badges, but almost certainly any change in the engines offered, or other alterations to any mechanical aspects, will not happen until 'Yeti II' appears, probably in another couple of years' time.

What I find really irritating is that the bluemotion technology isn't available to Skoda except on one model. Yet is is available across most of the VW and Audi range.

I do hope they roll out the technology across the range including the DSG models as they need lower emissions.

This is possible. It is standard on all new Octavia 3s.

That is good news.

When we did the deal for our L&K the sales guy said that his boss had been to the factory and the facelift was just that - a front facelift.

But in truth I'm not sure how much he really knew.

He knew not to emphasise a new model for a customer of a current model! Pretty sure all Sales Training these days covers the Osbourne effect (a computer retailer who went bust after pre announcing a new model!)

How different is GreenlineII compared with/to bluemotion?

Well, now that there's road tests being published, Skoda just don't seem to have done enough during the facelift to keep the Yeti ahead of the game. Virtually all the engines remain unchanged, so emissions & economy stay the same, so on paper at least -& in the eyes of Big Brother & his relentless assault on our wallets,it now leaves the new Yeti somewhat on the back foot compared to the opposition. From my perspective it's done me a favour as I don't like the new front at all & they haven't addressed what I see as the Yeti's biggest problem -the ride quality (although this is more of a gripe than a huge problem & the handling certainly makes up for it!)  So as I'm really not going to see any real world advantage if I change, I'll save me pennies & not bother thanks!
