To be fair, Johann, we don't know yet with certainty that Skoda can't. So far, all the submissions that have been put up on the many threads are nothing more than speculation. Although I personally (just my opinion!) like the current Yeti front end, I do agree that the round foglights could be smaller without spoiling the Yeti image.

No, we don't know for sure BUT believe me the press and dealers have seen the real deal. They get taken behind the scenes regularly and the press gets told they can comment and drop some hints publically from what they've seen (but where not allowed to photograph). So the direct words from these events have been that the new nose has horizontal foglamps in the lower bumper and no round ones higher up. The press guys then go back to their offices and ask their Photoshop people to make something based on what they saw. Incorrectly using a Tiguan as a base car too often alas.

If the current Yeti look is unpopular enough for a frontal redesign to make it more acceptable, why is it one of the few Skodas sold with no special deals as there has always been a long waiting list?

Do they think we are daft?

I agree with Johann's comments about the foglights, and this crossover segment is big business for car manufacturers, seemingly a new model appears every week. While the majority of car manufacturers go down the Qashqai route, I like the direction Skoda took with the Yeti, a squared off , tonka toy, more rugged looking car. If they do in the future change the front end (and I think they will) to be more appealing to potential buyers maybe their sales could rocket? Keeping the rear the same, maybe with LED lights?

And my post about the Autoexpress photo, was carefully worded and dubious, as yes, this photoshop mock up has been seen before :)

As a newcomer to Yeti ownership the only improvement I would like to see is a 'tilt and turn' type boot door. This would allow the spare wheel to be housed outside the vehicle thereby maxinising boot space.

Perhaps the great uninformed (everyone not on here) can't handle honest practical design.

You're forgetting that that is a totally new Octavia on the new MQB platform... The Yeti is just a facelift based on the current car.

Some of these are architecture related but others are just spec adjustments (DAB, MDI being obvious ones). Standard ESC will be interesting - if it's standard on Rapid (?) and Octavia then why wouldn't product planners put it in Yeti. Etc.

Also with Octavia going "up market" what does that mean for Yeti positioning / pricing? Probably not much for a mere facelift...

I know I'm going to get pelters, but I actually quite like the photoshopped mock up. I think it looks edgier, and although I like having the running lights and fogs, I'm not bothered where they are. Just my personal opinion. I'm hoping that the facelifted model will still be affordable. That's my holy grail. With the base model Golf around the £16k mark, the prices of family cars have gone through the roof. we had to stretch to get our 1.2Tsi S coming in at £14,500, and I'm hoping the same spec of facelifted model won't be rediculously far off that mark. I'm due to change at the 3 year point next March, so thinking of ordering in December when the new one comes out, if I can afford it. I suppose the silver lining is the high resale value of the current model.

I was up at Henrys is Glasgow getting mine serviced last March, and there was a used 1.2Tsi S sitting outside, exactly the same age and mileage as mine, interior torn up by dogs. The price - £14,500. Exactly what I'd paid for mine, brand new!

Interesting that Ford have actually reduced like-for-like prices on the new Kuga and some other manufacturers are essentially doing the same by upping the specifications of new models while not raising prices.

If I recall BIK tax for UK company car owners is based on list prices, so if the list prices are high vs real prices the car drivers pay higher tax than they should.

Fords have been overpriced in the UK for sometime and I suspect Kuga sales were declining quite steeply over the past few years.

Having seen pictures of the new Kuga, I can't imagine that sales are about to leap either, so pricing has to be keen.

Nice if they could do away with the protection foils as they look a bit tatty after a year or 2. But if bigger mudflaps probably won't fix it unlikely to happen.

I'll have a tenner on Skoda doing away with the round fogs/DRL's.

From what we nattered about, him and me, when I was clinching my move from tall go-kart to pantechnicon, the big boss buddy gave me to understand that yes, corporate nose job was in - but SO WERE the fogs. Big and round, at the front, untouched by alterations, they were set to survive, because, he said, they gave the Yeti it's distinctive appearance.

The headlights, grille, badge, chrome-work, bumpers front and back, and rear lights appearance were the main visible targets for the eraser, coupled with engine configurations and other 'media-friendly' under-the-skin "improvements". Mid term changes are viewed as the means by which the car, and Skoda, can grab the attention of the press once more, and make it eligible for the various competitions again, thus raising the profile to a higher level and generating fresh sales leads. (and before the Yeti, this correspondent has the anxiety of a Superb facelift to miss out on, which doesn't seem to be generating as much speculation in that spacemobile's columns).

Only a cosmetic upgrade with a Citygo nose & DAB & MMI etc this year. 2016 is supposed to be the true Yeti II, & that's when it moves from psuedo PQ35 to MQB. We might get a softer ride with the same GTI handling then, so let's hope we get RS4 bucket seats too! :rofl:

If you make the ride softer it will lose some of it's off-road capability.

But the MQB platform opens possibilities for a slight stretch to the wheelbase and a therefore larger cabin or boot.
