The Yeti Facelift - December

Featured Replies

Just read it.

As expected "What it could look like" and Exclusive image" were in there.

In other words it's just a photoshop they did, or borrowed off the internet as it looks the same as the one that's been doing the rounds for a year.

  • ALL!! THIS IS NOT THE FACELIFT YETI. THIS IS AUTOEXPRESS'S IMPRESSION OR PHOTOSHOP IDEA. NOTE THE WORD IDEA. THEY ACTUALLY SAY THIS IN THE ARTICLE. PLEASE STOP WORRY

  • Listen Skodalcoda chappie, there's never a worry on here about straying off the original topic to the point that if a topic does NOT stray it must be real boring - and anyway there are enought pedants

In some respects it looks suspiciously like the Peugeot in the background to me. I wonder if they've just messed with that image a bit.

Auto Express one from this week...

AUTO-EXPRESS_09012013.jpg

Year old one based (a bit) on a Tiguan... from thier sister magazine Auto Bild in October 2011.

Skoda+Yeti+2013.jpg

It's so exclusive it's over a year old with the spot lights shopped off!

It's just a mirror image and even has the same reflections on the doors,

Once again, Auto Express "making up a story"!!

Armrest is height adjustable.

I know- still too low

I am 6'2" and perfect for me - I must have shorter arms than you.

Long legs, short body and normal length arms.

What does that remind you of?

A Yeti perhaps :giggle:

Not quite true, as a Yeti has long arms in proportion to it's body.......if you believe all the pictures, videos published.

Major wishes

2 boot lights, redesigned rear folding seats, redesigned jumbo box/arm rest that doesn't take up rear seat well space, roller blind boot cover, work on reducing rear tailgate muck redesigned mud flaps, DAB radio (don't start the dab / no dab discussion please) an option would do. Spare wheel rework not taking up extra boot space.

Easy access to all light bulbs...(indicator bulbs especially).

1.4TSi DSG

Work to improve reliability...as too many wide ranging faults (me and on this forum).

Improved product training for dealers and a more customer responsive approach. More like Honda....

Improved sensible english user manual (not translated from the Chinese version (lol)

Very major wish ..User friendly and MORE knowledgable Skoda Customer Care UK.

Get rid of website car configurator if you can't make it work.

More flexible car optional extras and extended warranties

What do I EXPECT...MOST OF THIS ESPECIALLY THE SMALL PRACTICAL ITEMS WILL BE IGNORED

Even when they have had 3 years of feedback from this forum!!

Agree with this. I would also like split rear hatch, body coloured bumpers, 16" wheels as an option, delete roof rails as an option and how about a Citigo type plug-in satnav/computer module?

It would also be useful if the speedo was actually marked with text in 10 Mph divisions isnstead of the current 20 Mph. Don't Skoda realise that the most common speed limit in the UK is 30MPH which is difficult to read on the current display when driving. Having said that I notice a lot more 40 mph and 50 Mph zones these days. If the politicians have their way we will all be back to a man with a red flag walking in front.

I totally agree, although other members will not. Best not to start this debate regarding speedo markings again, as it got a bit heated last time.

Now you have made me sorry I missed the debate last time around.

Set the MFD to display the large digital speedo, I use it as the speedo is such a pain to read. You just need a friendly person with VCDS.

I wonder if these new front lights will allow people to change all of the bulbs without an expensive visit to the dealer......

that is something that really annoys me (even though I haven't had to change any yet! ) I think all bulbs should be changeable without major surgery

Hi all,

If this is what they can come up with I'm glad my new one arrives February....i want a square boot a sloping roof line is the reason why i replaced my Octavia with a yeti. Oh yes and the four lights in darkest Hampshire is very useful. Personally i think they will keep what they have and just add extras like dab and change styling a iccle. If they change too much i think they will alienate their customers too much. One thing about skoda they keep practical that's what i think we all love. About build quality and noise i cut up bits of karrimat to fill all the door pockets and boot area and i have no rattles, just an idea but maybe worth checking.

Personally my main gripe with the yeti...boot light it's err crap!!! I keep a led torch in the boot, works for me....

Jerry

Thank god!!!! It turns the yeti into another kia or Hyundai....i tested these before my second yeti. They're just not as good!!!

What i love about skoda is that they do things their own way :-)

I would tend to believe the dealer's knowledge (ie; what they told TP etc), based on their recent visit to the Factory. I think that the front end at least, will have the new corporate front, but the rear IMO will remain as is, with just maybe lights and bumper refresh.

Skoda want to attract the widest possible customer base to their brand, and whist I love my Yeti (manly for it looks), a lot more people (ie; potential customers) don't. They love the build quality and the interior, but cannot live with the front end - the same way I can't stand the Nissan Juke. Skoda will not worry too much about the loss of a few existing Yeti owners when changing cars, as they will be predicting their future sales on new and younger customers........and they will know that, despite what we all state on this forum, a large percentage of us will still buy the new one.

According to some comments on the Autocar forum the front end is not particularly liked. I like it personally and it makes the car look individual.

The Autobild mock-up in post 78 here shows how Skoda could actually have the best of both worlds: the new corporate front-end but retaining the round lights as an individual feature but not perhaps as 'odd' in that setting as they look to some people on the current model. Provided they left the square back-end alone, I'd happily go with the Autobild front next time around.

Yes - that would work for me as well.

It is a pity that BMW can get away putting round foglights into the nose of the next X5, yet Škoda can't work out a way to do them same with the Yeti facelift? The foglights on the next X5 really look very randomly placed. But it got me thinking that if Škoda could just shrink the current ones a bit smaller they should be able to have the best of both worlds no?

To be fair, Johann, we don't know yet with certainty that Skoda can't. So far, all the submissions that have been put up on the many threads are nothing more than speculation. Although I personally (just my opinion!) like the current Yeti front end, I do agree that the round foglights could be smaller without spoiling the Yeti image.

That BMW nose is a bit of a mess - uncoordinated shapes and detail (again JMO!!) :wonder:
