Hello from Livingston... and Help!

Featured Replies

Just registered as I've often looked to Briskoda for answers in the past.

I have a 2004 Fabia 1.2, it is excellent, and has only now after 88000 miles brought me to a halt!

I am needing a new battery it's true, I car share and while it's fine during the weeks I drive it's been needing jump started this winter whenever it's been sitting for the other guy's week. But today was... weird.

I jump started it, everything was normal, I left it ticking over while I put the leads away and closed up the other car and the house; then however it cut-out when I'd only moved half it's length and won't refire. It was turnbing over no problem but was showing no sign of catching at all. I have just replaced a coilpack last week, but again everything seemed back to normal before today.

Could there be a separate electrical issue that effects the ignition but not the starter?

Does it need some kind of reset after having a new coil?

I'm as certain as I can be that it died away rather than stalling.

The battery is questionable, but the engine was turning over very well and reconnecting the other car made no difference; I just don't understand.

Could I have fried the ECU?

Hope someone can help!

Best
