cd changer? wheres that located please?

In the boot, there is a panel on the left hand side. Open this panel. That is where the CD changer is normally (for those that have them obviously). Down by the three connectors at the bottom, there is a union where one of the pipes normally pops off. Pop her back on and shove a couple of cable ties on for extra piece of mind. Assuming this is the fault, of course...

Had a quick look at the union . It looked loose but this didn't seem to cure it. I plugged in VCDS tonight and identified another problem which is the recirc motor which I believe is common and pricey to fix. Anyone know how much the speedo sender is for one of these as mine is under reading by quite a lot? Also VCDS lite won't scan the engine module . I am using a Gendan cable and fully licensed software on a Samsung Netbook but it won't synch ? Any ideas?

Mine underreads a good 10% as well. Don't think it's anything to do with the sender in my case.

Bit of an update in case you are interested. Still cannot connect to the engine ecu? Did the cam belt after the auxiliary belt damper snapped off due to the seized alternator clutch. One nearly new alloy to replace the 50p shaped originally. Done about 8k on it now. Snapped a spring today , I think as it wants to turn left and twangs on full lock. The Mrs doesn't like the fact that it steams up at this time of year so I might have to go leak hunting starting with the roof bars and rear hatch struts. Changed two window lifter and fixed the door lock for one of those delock kits. I

If you are using VAGCOM and have trouble getting any reads from the ECU, try disconnecting the battery for a minute and reconnect. Try VAGCOM again, worked when I had the problem reading my son's 1.6 Elegance.

Have a look at the recent threads about swimming pools for an idea where to check for leaks!

I have ordered all four door membranes from Skoda to begin the inevitable long leak diagnosis as the originals are non existent. £40 all in didnt seem too bad. I will think about the door seals next. Also wll give the battery off a go to see if this lets me talk to the ECU
