Uprated DV - Rev D Query

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Just found my old diaphragm style DV which was replaced by the uprated piston type (I think it is a revision D DV - Fitted to the S3).

Quick question - I was able to easily push the spring down on the diaphragm version, right to the base of the travel of the DV.

The uprated piston version - I couldn't budge it a mm!

Now I've thought about it, is this correct? Or should you be able to push the piston style DV down also? Now worried that the piston may of been faulty and my turbo could be at risk.

Thanks for any info.

It should have a slight resistance to it.

Iirc I couldn't move the piston on my rev D before I fitted it?

Really??... i could on mine!....

Got me worried now lol

Thank-you for the replies guys. Sorry for causing you concern Grizzle!

I distinctly remember pushing gently on the piston DV, with the same force which pushed the diaphragm DV right down!

Didn't want to damage the piston DV so pushed a bit harder and still nothing. I suppose this is why mapped cars require the stronger DV.
