  • You could always have my heated leather vRS seats for..... $1,000,000

  • Ahhhhh bisto. These do come up on ebay, but rarely. Or you can fight me for mine? Should really get round to stitching in some V logos too, it's only been nearly 3 years....

  • just to draw a line under this thread today i have finally collected the last part of my Recaros. There is a bit of a stretch in the material around the head rest holes and they've had to put a st

Thanks Sam

It's not really the design that gets my goat it's the stupid light colour.

Even though those polo ones are black with rainbow stripes they'd be better than the ridiculously easy to mark grey!

Alternatively i have my eyes on a set of Golf mk4 Recaros and a couple of boggo spec Fabia ones to act as subframe donors ;)

^^^

I'd love to have my SE leathers heated :(

If i was that bothered i'd steal the leather out of my Mum's SE when she wasn't looking :)

Dont bother with the polo seats they are rubbish! Unless you enjoy regular back ache lol

  • Author

hmmm maybe these (once they'd be fumigated obviously!!)

or more likely these - same price & less mould.

Unfortunatey not these :(

  • Author

still looks light grey to me :)

and while i said didn't mind about design i'd like something that at least attempts to hold me in place

and to be honest for that price i reckon i could at least fudge golf front seat in!

£50 for the golf bits £50 for a couple of Fabia 1.2 seats to donate subframes....

or of course i could do what i'm supposed to and save for a wedding! :D

id love to view the suggestions but stuck in work so cant.. im desperate to change my horrid grey easily marked vrs seats, but im tight so not wanting to spend loads of money on it, but yea im after some nice black leather seats of some kind?!

My 2 cents...

If your going to change, get leather. Its so much better! It doesn't get that cold in winter, i dont have heated seats & its cold at first but soon warms up once your sat in!

I liked the vrs cloth seats, but they were too easy to get dirty. Im very thin and they didn't hold me very well, octavia seats are more chunky less room to move.

I replied to your pm about fitment, its really not that difficult once you have done one!

Recover your originals. :)

I'm not seeing a logo = not Recaros. They'll be less bolstered than your vRS seats, and not as snug/firm as Recaros. It's confusing, because the GTI either came with Recaros with the coloured inserts, or standard seats with the coloured inserts. If there's no logo on the seat, it's a standard seat.

I like the Fabia sport ones ;)

wowzers minefield alert!

I did now that but in my lunchtime excitement failed to look at the images i linked to properly.

These are Recaro ones with a logo

These are the red and black ones i was looking at and they seem to have a logo and 2 lines of stitching across the seat back at side bolster level as per the ones in the first image.

These are advertised as Recaro's but look different but don't have a logo so are stadnard

These then are advertised as Recaro Style but look the same the grey ones above and have no logos!

.Standard seats with blue inserts

Making these mouldy red ones indeed standard seats but with red inserts

As if the mould wasn't reason enough to not buy them they are now actually the wrong thing!

Yep, in some cases I'm sure it's a genuine mistake, but a lot of people will sell as Recaros when they aren't. It's even worse if you're trying to buy Mk1 Leon Cupra R seats; they all have an embroidered R (because it's an R), which 90% of people will insist means that they're the £1200 optional Recaro seats, when that's not the case.

But yeah, if the seat doesn't have an embroidered Recaro logo on it, it's not a Recaro seat regardless of the coloured inserts or the style. You can also tell from the shape, Recaros have the dipped headrest like the Mk1 Fabia vRS, standard seats don't (you can easily see the difference in your first two pictures of the dark grey Recaro/standards).

edit - realistically, it may not make much difference to you which you buy. But I know for me, once I'd sat in my mate's Mk1 LCR Recaros, the firmness and comfort were worlds apart from my standard Mk1 Leon Cupra seats, so personally I would kick myself if I got ripped off and ended up with a "lesser seat".

There's two types - the bottom ones in your photos which aren't Recaros (are quite nice though, my Golf had them).

Then there's the more bolstered ones which have Recaro logos on them. I had a set in the Polo and they were much better than the standard seats. Sitting in the garage going to waste now. :(

These mouldy red ones are indeed standard seats the same as these grey ones and blue ones.

It might be the natural cynic in me, but I'd say they're deliberately misadvertised. Trying to sell standard seats is hard enough, without them being in that state. Dress them up as Recaros though, and someone is going to look at them, see that they've got the coloured inserts a la Golf Mk4 GTI, and assume that because of that and the fact they're advertised as Recaros they must be Recaros and are therefore worth more and worth buying to clean up. Then they may well fit them, and realise they feel exactly the same as the Mk4 platform standard seats they just took out...

I had seen that some had Recaro logos and some didn't; but assumed that was just a stitching option and all the seats were the same. Thrown even further off the scent by the matchign coluor centres across both sorts!

My search was initially prompted by miles in my inlaws Golf PD150 which was comfy.

I now think was probably just the standard seats.

Although if i can get Recaro's for the same kind of money though gotta be worth a punt no?

No, as MK4 Golf seats will not fit the subframes are completely different I would of thought the rears will also be too wide.

Out of the ones you have posted, I would go with the Fabia sport ones personally.

  • Author

I'm more than aware of the subframes but theres a pretty straight forward guide to swapping them and thatnks to it there are now at least 2 Fabias sporting seats from Golf platform cars

Besides... fitting Fabia Sport seats would be far too easy :)

Fabia sport seats are also a lot rarer having been looking for exactly the same reason that I cannot keep the standard VRs seats clean.
