Just for the crack..Yellow Sea tyres

Featured Replies

These are tyres i am currently using so i may aswell write a review.

These came complimentary with the car when i bought it, the budget of budgets. I think they are literally made of melted down tupperware and old school rubbers.

Put it this way they have been on and off the car for about 15,000 miles and they have worn about 3-4mm (no joke!) and that is with a tortuous stage two map. They have had pretty much every weather thrown at them and had a fair share of cornering torture..well when i say that, the intention of going around a corner fast, the tyres all consecutively decide to let go and we have a nice 4 wheel drift going.

Pro's;

Wear rate is second to non, i have never in my life known a tyre to be so hard that it will wear the tarmac down first.

Cheap, oh so cheap.

Directional tred so at least you think you might have a standing chance in the rain..dont be fooled though.

Offer hours of entertainment with unlimited slide action (as mentioned before with no wear)

Con's;

Dont expect any grip around a corner any more then a completely arrow straight road.

Although when you are on the straight road do not under any circumstances put any more then a hairs width of throttle down, it will squirm, spin up and cause a funny flashy yellow light

Actually your car will simulate the image of the flashy yellow light

Brake gradually about 2 miles before actually wanting to turn corner/junction or just want to come to a stop..do not startle the tyre, these are delicate and lazy

Although these are currently on my car, i will not unfortunately be buying again.

Thanks, they seem fabulous.. I'll stick with the vredesteins wintrac extremes for the moment.

PMSL

After a quick google, I guess these are the ones you have: http://www.yellowsea...Tire_YS112.html

I thought you had Unirayal Rainsports on your car? I'm guessing you have a pair of these and a pair of Uniroyals. I know they were free, but if they are so bad, why don't you bin them and buy another pair of Rainsports?

I'm guessing you've learnt something.

Two things you don't skimp on with cars.......Brakes and Tyres! It's what keeps you on the ground and what stops you.

The Dare alloys are my summer one, i have winter steel's but these are like my in between wheels (on the OEM alloys)

The uniroyal's were passed the legal point so i had to put something on and it was too warm for winters. I have a set of uniroyals ready and waiting for spring! :)

Would you recommend I swap the Falkens for them then?

Would you recommend I swap the Falkens for them then?

am guessing not lol!

Ema_Jane...if they are so bad, and we are having bad weather, surely might be an idea to change them and put on some tyres that give you a chance of not coming off the road!

Just today put the winter steels on..eye an eye out for that review :p

lol, nice one!!!

sounds like you have been saved just in time, we don't get the weather down here like you do, but have been thinking i would like winters none the less!

looking good on winters, nice car btw, love that blue!

I have a work shed, the 306 with pretty much bald summer tyres..it'll be reet! haha

you make no sense lol,

you drive a mk2 with cak tyres in rubbish weather, then put your winter tyres on and dont drive it at all with tyres that are meant for this weather, instead you drive a french car (shudder) with near bald summer tyres...

che?

Haha yes it does seem a tad backwards.

The 306 was bought for work but never really got round to buying some winter tyres for it as a full set of winters would cost more then i paid for the car.

The Octy's winters are from last year when it was my only car, now the Octy is 'nice' car, winter tyres or no winter tyres, my Octy is useless in the snow, too low and too much boost!

surely with winters on its manageable though? even with boost and low..

talking of low, a couple of years ago, i literally beached mine on a rut of snow in the middle of the road, wouldn't go back or forward lol

Sounds like the mohawks i had on mine #poo !

Too low and too powerful?

I've thought of two solutions.

If it's on Coil-overs, then wind them up. If I remember, you've got a Shark map, therefore buy a STS and take it off.

Not all coilovers are adjustable but yes mine are and its not exactly a 5 min job and removing the map and putting it back on will just mess with the ECU..too much messing about when i have a 306 that is fine in the snow just could do with a set of winters.

Can't believe these ditch finders haven't worn out yet! It must be nearly 2 years since I first ripped the pee pee out of them in Saltburn!

Oh they still have millions of miles left in them, they have at least 5mm on them

atleast you have a reason if you get caught drifting round a roundabout :)
