Struggling with Coming/Leaving Home lights

Featured Replies

4300k for me too, nothing higher. OEM spec is 4300k so that's what I'll always run.

Anything higher looks wrong, and the higher the Kelvin value the more the light is filtered so you're actually reducing total luminance output anyway :)

Does anyone have the issue of the main beam not looking as bright with HIDs than when they were standard lights?

Unless I'm missing something that will because dipped beam now a better quality light and you're still running standard bulbs in the high beam?

I thought that, but wondered if it had been the placebo affect. Might have to get some brighter bulbs for that too now :@

Yeah, what Wardy says. Even with the +120% bulbs, I notice a clear difference between the HID and Halogen beams.

Am not going to try and fit HID main-beams, as others have done. Have thought about having a pair of HID driving lights relayed off the main-beam, with a 2 second delay, so as not to damage the ballasts. But thinking about it is as far as I've got ;)

You'll definitely notice the difference. I'd have stuck some uprated ones in when you were fitting the HIDs :)

  • 1 year later...

Bit of a thread revival, but what coding options did you use to set this up without the auto light switch Phil?

I'd have to check as it was about 18 months ago now!

I think It's the same coding with/without auto light switch.

I certainly didn't change any of the CH/LH coding when I fitted my auto light switch.
