Looking to put mainly a sub and amp in the boot but need inspiration

Can any of you help my quest ?

Hopefully starting mine in the spring when it is warmer - much nicer to work on the car when it is warmer and the panels are less brittle so less chance of damage.

Plan so far is to retain the Columbus Sat Nav and run the front output via a High Quality LOC to a couple of programmable processors, passive front stage and a sub in the boot.

I'd go for an active front stage as I had in my 8P, but I am worried about getting the cables into the door on the Octavia.

Lots more room for the kit in the boot than my previous 8P A3.

Paul

If I purchase the Octavia in the next coming weeks I shall be looking at removing all my audio from my golf and putting all or some into the new car.

I have 650w 3 way focal speakers in the front and twin jl audio 12" subs in the boot all running off a jl 900/5 amp.

not sure if i will upgrade the subs to the 8" w7 sub but only time well tell and the arrangement is another story all together.

I'll be doing a high end install in my Blackline also when it gets a little warmer! I don't want to go too OTT at the moment but might not be able to resist! A pillar builds and kick builds with Focal components and 7 or 8" midbass in doors, the doors are going to be a challenge with such poor speaker locations but we'll see! not sure weather to adapt the Amundsen via a H800 or similiar or remote mount a cd player with a hidden face off on a ribbon cable to get high SQ in there. does anyone know if the Amundsen has RCA outputs? I guess an optical output is just wishful thinking :wonder:

amp wise, not decided yet but most likely fully active so at least 7 channels in there

Not my Octavia, but my weekend toy. My aim was a nice sounding setup, with the emphasis on quality not power. Focal speakers all round with genesis amps, custom door cards and tweeters in the a-pillars.

be interesting when you start your build marko, get some pics up :)

Mine needs to get done soon. Simple setup with 1 sets of comps up front, 1 amp fopr those and 2 amps for the sub. Looking to get in the region of 148db+

this was in my mk1 Octy vRS, don't know if you ever saw pics of that Ryan? was a few years ago now!

yea i saw those pics, a while back though lol

Looked good

just wondering how different is the boot on a mk1 to a mk2? also kicks, the mk1 kicks were awesome for builds and gave really good SQ!

at least I don't have to worry about loosing the spare for the sub enclosure as it doesn't have one!

not sure about the kicks on these for mids. The oem mids are at the back of the door and tweeter at the front by the handle. Wierd thing is it sounds quite good and the mids dont sound like they are by your hips

Likewise, keeping the Columbus satnav and I am perchasing and old but quality sub, jl audio 12w6 possibly a large custom box either that or I will smooth it into the boot somehow as I still need the use of my boot as I have a disabled daughter( but she likes bass too ;-) )

Hoping to get the kit installed in the cubby holes either side of the boot behind the wheels, but will have to protect from the water that falls in after rain on the hatch, not helped by the spoiler on the vRS.

Not sure what I will do about the sub, I have a 10" JL Audio sub in a sealed box, but could be tempted by their pre-built and tuned slim line box with a pair of 8" subs.

Either way the boot should swallow it up.

A3 had Focal Utopia Mids and L1 Pro tweeters running active from an Alpine H701 processor fed optically by an Alpine DVA-9861RI, all powered by a PDX-4.150 and PDX-1.1000.

Sold the Processor and controller as well as the HU, have the components and amps to go in the octavia.

Jl is a brilliant start for subs no matter what model you go for, below is an image of my w0 12"s in my boot of my golf, post-98886-13582413774205_thumb.jpg

When I get my octavia I will put the amp in a similar space and get the jl 8" w7 sub just to get a good punch.

got my Blackline today, yay!

had a quick look in the boot and noticed the wheel well is now nice and central, this was offset and a PITA with the mk1 octy (see my pic above).

A pillars should be a doddle for tweeter builds and no silly shapes to try and contour material round (Audi B6 was a nighmare here) and kicks are big enough for some decent sized builds just like the mk1.

Mark.

how you liking it mark?

Its got interior door pannels unlike the audi's too although you'll need to get the drill out to remove the mids. Also you'll need to get stock of the poppers for the door trims as they brake easily.

As I said, mine will be for SPL so wont look pretty but should be loud on the mic lol Next is to try and get an XS D3100 under the bonnet. Will be nice to run in Street A with 2 SPL-Dynamics 3500d's :)

are those poppers like a spiral shaped thing? if they are they are the same as Audi's and I have a pack of them..

only drove it a few miles yet but like it, the brakes are very keen and I almost went through the windscreen when I 1st touched the pedal

They slide into the door card and then pop into the door. There are quite a few screws holding it in place too.

they are just regular panel clips then, not the ones I was thinking of..

do you think it's possible to fit 8" midbass in the stock door locations? Phase Linear Alliante ones to be exact so low profile (ish)

I THINK matt was running 8" ground Zero PA mids in project little white.

Here's a pic of my 56 plate vrs with oem speakers:

do you have to drill all those rivits out to remove the metal plate?

not sure, i believe so. This is why im not going to be deadening the outer skin lol

I guess you and Marko are both the same as on TA, haven't been on there for a while.

I won't deaden the outside panel either, but may see if I can at least pad behind the mid using the hole in the panel.

yes! I've been on here since 2004 so I'm a born again Briskodian

yea I am too. Did the atomic dust cap and DB Drag scores give it away? lol

I've been on here a while too as I needed advice on my mums old fabia years back.

Mark, have you thought about how to go about the false floor yet?

no mate, should be very easy really, big open boot space to play with, sub in spare wheel well and a false floor above it. don't really want anything too flash at this point just nicely finished off OEM style (ish). I'll start a project build thread when I start it..
