Aftermarket single din radio looks weird - now with pics!

Featured Replies

Anyone else agree?

Just fitted a new alpine HU I got for a very cheap price! Love the HU.

Got the top facia clip on order through my dealer, however I can't help but think the cubby hole underneath now looks really weird, the top of the cubby sits way further out than the bottom of the head unit.

Not really sure what can be done :(

Here's a pic!

I've pulled the stereo out now to bring it flusher with the tray but the cage isn't right back in the hole now so may not be too secure?

Pull the cage out a bit and fix it in the hole sticking out a little (about 4-6mm)

it should have plenty of tabs to choose from to fix it with then

wrap the protruding edge of the silver cage in some black insulating tape to

make it harder to see in the shadow gap and refit stereo into cage.

It might be better to wait until the trim piece arrives to get the gap right.

It worked with my Kenwood and my Sony.

Awesome nice one dude, thanks for the reply, thought I was being dopey!

Will hang fire for now and fine tune it :)

The draw from an elegance, that replaces the cubby, has a much deeper top lip on it, gets rid of the gap in most cases.

To be fair, I did also have one of these...

Been looking for one for ages! :(

Mine does that and yes my cage is fitted correct.......................it's because the facia of the oem hifi is curved outwards where as the DIN ones are flat...............and yes I removed my drawer to fit the cubby as more usefull!

Bloody hell. I sold mine for just £20

And it loves it's new home
