Hi Dave, have you checked the DV seal is holding? Have you checked that you have vacuum?

Personally I don't think your issue is with the pancake to intercooler pipe as the oil doesn't look wet. I ve replaced that pipe on a 1.8T AUQ before, in search of a cure for the dreaded 17705 code before, & your pic looks like normal build of grime to me. (17705 eventually turned out to be a dodgy value in the custom code map)

Sounds like a leak within the pcv system, check the link for more info on fixing the problem.

One thing I had noticed is my dipstick is rotten with oil residue ??

Which pipe is the common culprit under then??

oil pick up pipe could be foul.

could maybe benefit from a flush and a pick up pipe change

what do you mean by residue?? have you had your opil pressure light on?

Done that a while back, the yellow dipstick holder under the manifold is dirty on the outside around where all the PCV, SAI, pipes are

Thinking about this and reading about the PCV valve setup, could this be why it's using a bit of oil these days, pressure going the wrong way or summat similar.

could be, so many pipes and so much possibility for leaking, it could be causing oil loss and maybe knock on to the boost issues youve been having

sorry in previous i thought you were taking internally

Your right about too many pipes !!!

even ma tdi was over piped, i got rid of 90% its almost like they thought, there is a gap there, mmmmm, nuvver pipe? - yeah!

Replaced 4 for a friend of mine recently on gti 1.8t, s pipe y pipe and various other letter shaped pipe pieces

Oil residue around the dipstick is a sign of split pipework under the black manifold cover. Pretty much all the pipes under there are prone to splitting. S pipe is usually the 1st to go, & is difficult to spot as it's so tucked away. I have a spare in my garage if you need it Dave. Think I've got a y suction pipe too. Have a good listen around for hissing the manifol area when the car is idling.

Saw your car parked up on Greenway Rd this morning. Snow was interesting on Friday but isn't too bad around us really.

By the way a cracked dipstick pipe is common & that is part of the PCV system.

That wasn't me lol, if its on the left by the flats then it's my stunt double, it's a tdi I think, with a bit of bling, my mate keeps asking if it's me. I've told him I don't know times !!

I may take you up on those pipes, I'll let this crappy weather clear first, bit cold to be stood out the front lol

I did change the dipstick holder about 2 yrs ago, I suppose it could be cracked again

Oh twas a TDI then. I thought it looked a bit high up for a VRS. Black spiders fooled me!

It's worth you changing the small PCV that fits into the T pipe that the S pipe connects to. It's a cheap part from TPS & is prone to failure.

Thats the one. 2nd photo down large jubillee clip with S pipe going into it.

Jamie is a cool bloke really helpful. If you see him tell him the A4 rear flaps Paul bought that ETKA state as not for S-Line actually do fit the S-Line perfectly.

Pics 4,5 & 6 show the T piece PCV perfectly too.

nIce one, I'll tell him about the flaps.

Cheers Dave. Give me a shout if you need a hand with your car.

Have you got VCDS? If you have what's your requested v actual boost looking like?

All good as far I can tell, it's giving what I'm asking, so if there is a leak it's after the turbo ....I think lol
