Looking at getting a Monte Carlo! A couple Q's

Featured Replies

My first post, not sure whether this is the correct section, am looking at ordering a 1.2 tsi 105 ps Monte Carlo in Black magic pearl, with the onyx red seats

So have been playing around with the online Configurator which doesn't make much sense when adding optional extras

The following opt. Extras are ones I was looking at getting:

Maxi dot

Bluetooth and phone preparation

Climate control A/C

Heated front seats

Storage under front seats

5 year warranty

Spare wheel and floor mats

My problem is when entering the maxi dot and Bluetooth into the computer it comes up with multiple options saying remove this and add that.... So what I wanted to know is when you have the Bluetooth phone prep if this is a different screen to the maxi dot as it seems to be greyed out, or same thing?? Says stuff about steering wheel controls etc...

If anyone could explain a bit clearer would be appreciated,

Also any owners with the monte think the extras are worth it? Or any I should opt for??

Matt

Hi and welcome,

yes the Configurator is a bit confusing and not helped by this steering wheel control option, that is available but little advertised and last I was aware not in the brochure. Also have a feeling maxidot and bluetooth come as a combined option.

Regard your other options then having had Fabia's with both the standard A/C and the full climatronic I didn't bother with it for our Monte, as there's little day to day difference in function, although some prefer the appearance of the digital display over the large dials.

Heated seats are a personal preference; have not found them necessary myself to date with fabric seats.

Storage boxes under the seats are fairly small and rather than a draw arrangement as on the Yeti, they have a simple fold down lid to access the box. Thought about them but decided I hadn't missed having them on previous Fabia's.

5 year warranty a bargain particularly if your planning on keeping the car, also includes breakdown.

Spare wheel also worth having, glue no use if the tyre is damaged beyond a small puncture.

Mats I would go for the dealer ones, as they have the Fabia logo stitched into them, factory ones are plain onyx.

Black looks very good, although I think charging the full metallic price is a swizz, as the black metallic roof is standard without extra charge on the other colours.

For our Monte we kept it fairly simple and went for options based on some years experience of owning Fabia's (Monte's our 5th); ESP+, Cruise control, Headlight washers, with the spare and mats transferred over from the previous Elegance, oh also have a set of 15" alloys and winter tyres.

An update... Today I put my deposit down on my Fabia Monte Carlo 1.2 tsi 105ps,

I ordered it with:

Black magic metallic paint with red interior,

Bluetooth,

Heated seats,

Storage under front seats,

5 year warranty

And managed to get the AutoGlym Life ****e protection interior aswell chucked in for free, with the current 20% off deal I do think I got a very good deal, nowvto play the waiting game as looking at 19 weeks delivery!!

Will all be worth it

Heated seats and underseat storage hmm not my cup of tea lol

Any reason for not opting for a Maxi dot (or is this including with bluetooth as i thought maxi dot was required for this??) or the Climatic ?

Both make the interior feel so much more up market.

I had a long debate with the sales woman about maxi dot, as I did my home work and she wasn't sure I confirmed to her that maxi dot was included with Bluetooth, she had to ask her ordering team who confirmed,

Climate control I would have gone for but is only single zone which I wouldn't benifit from, It was on the cards though

Ahh i see, i know there was issue with the Maxi dot and amunsden that cause so issues lol

Well done, now enjoy the wait. Sorry to say I agree with others, i had the front seat under storage on my vRS and to be honest its a waste of time/money as space is tiny.

Hope you enjoy the car when it comes.

I have the under seat storage as well. I agree that it is not really that big, I thought it would be far bigger. However, with the glovebox being so tiny, it has proved to be invaluable to me.

I asked for 5 years warranty dealer told me you don't have to they offer 2 years after the standered 3 years. So i am not paying £299 or is it £249 with interest on the finance

Yes that's right, any one had the Auto Gylm life shine? Read some dim views but as I'm getting it for free I'm not too fussed, the understorage will be handy as any of you with kids will know how much you have to take with you just for a short trip to the shops!!! Any extra storage will be handy

I had Auto Glym life shine.... £300 !!! not sure its worth it as I've still had to wash the car in the normal way, just hoseing down was not enough to clean it but the Autoglym pack and bag you get is very nice as it should be for £300 !

Update, got a call from the dealer the other day to tell my my Monte is being built next week for me to pick up between 4-6 weeks, compared to the late June early July I was originally quoted!! Excited!!!

Good news; will also get the updated badges and new steering wheel then.

Oh Autoglym; I bought a kit from fleebay and applied it myself this time (£13 and an afternoons work). Think I did a better job than the dealers; wasn't overly impressed with two previous cars that had this treatment supposedly carried out 'professionally' :wonder:

Seems to be working well at keeping the car looking shiny and comes up very well when washed. Have applied some additional Autoglym ultra deep shine polish to the roof recently, to give it a little more protection being a dark colour.

The updated badges are definitely on all 13 plates and being built this year then? Was always unsure, thought it would be for a facelift model being released later this year... Be great if that's the case, I get a big cleaning care kit with my autoglym life shine, tempted to get a car cover aswel

My current car I'm upgrading from, ep1 1.4 civic type R replica, many modifications post-99063-13615391533302_thumb.jpg

Just out of curiosity does anyone know if the Kenwood double din opt. Extra works fully with the MDI cable, Bluetooth control and steering wheel stalk controls?

Believe not but Crash67 would confirm as he has the system in his MC.

TP

No with a Kenwood System the MDI is rendered useless (kind of)

The kenwood relys on the a lead that has a ipod connection wire with a USB and Jack (2in 1)

I believe usb sticks can be used as standard mp3 players with a 3.5 jack lead.

Hmmn, may be worth looking into when I have the car...

Which by the looks of it will be very soon! Previously expecting June/July pick up time, my car has been built this week! Hope into transit late of next, and collect it mid towards the end of march!!!

Now time to tidy my civic up to get it sold when I get the monte,

This is my first new car so what is the procedure with picking new registration numbers? As I understand you can choose your reg? Not like private plates?

Cheers

Some dealers just allocate your car a reg number, others ask if you would like to choose from a block allocation they may have from the local DVLA. Might be worth asking the dealer, if your interested in deciding your own reg from what they have been allocated. Normally they wait until the car is at the UK port before starting the reg process.

Hi Benison69 - how is the monte? And what happened re the Bluetooth and maxidot? I ordered a new monte carlo tech last week, and have same issue as you re whether there is anytihng in the car that will show mpg! Tech comes w Amundsen satnav and bluetooth, but References only "trip computer" (not "maxidot") in some spec listings. Interestingly though some leasing companies list that option as "bluetooth and maxidot" on the fabia. Confusing and dealer was unclear to point of evasiveness. Hope the car worth the wait, I am. Ow looking at late June. :-(
