hi there everyone very happy man as today i collected the superb its a s spec 1.6 tdi CR in aqua blue with optional full size spare wheel must say i was sad to see my wee Octavia go but need a new taxi and the legroom is astonishing its a limo and got the meter and radio plus data head fitted the binnacle had to be removed to get a pulse from but the guy was top notch and the car came back fine the boot is a clever idea and like the way it latches itself the auto lights are handy but the brakes... nearly sent myself flying through the windscreen very sharp love the big door mirrors gives a good view the gear change recommendation is handy only thing i dont like is the lights that stay on by themselves at the bottom all the time and the seat belt warning buzzer and when i left Skoda to go to the meter fitter i stopped for some fuel and must say when i got back in the car was scared to death as it wouldn't start them realized that the clutch had to be down heart raising moment P1010090-1.jpg?t=1358798431P1010091.jpg?t=1358798540sad to see my octavia go but the superb seems... superbP1010089.jpg?t=1358798731

i know was the weather it was snowing and blowing a gail, try my best to get used to it i was shell shocked at the amount of room in the back cause im small i need the seat very far forwards when i went into the back to put the mats on i could not belive the space i needed to use some mats that are usually in the front very big interior the boot is very clever on the openings but think 70% of the time saloon mode will do just needs to get its taxi test tomorrow and she is ready to work will sail through it but need to learn how to work the headlights right

sure they will, but coming from a mk1 octy to a superb is amazing the quality of the interior and the sound proofing is very good. the 1.6 tdi is very quiet can hardly hear it and the power output is very good for all the people who complain that the 1.6 tdi is under powered dont know what they are talking about pulls great and half throttle does me

and by the way does anyone know if you leave the lights on auto when they should come on and off cause it was very dull toady and they came on but brightened up a wee bit but they still stayed on when should they go off

I think once they have triggered the threshold for them to go off is higher than it would be for them to turn on if you know what I mean. They seem to stay on in brighter conditions if they have been on than would normally trigger them to to come on if it has been bright. You can always turn the switch if you want them to go off you know ;)

Also on my car I have an option in the maxi-dot to turn of the daylight running lights, not sure if you have that on the S? Also to be fair I've not tried the option, so not sure if it will really tun them off or not.

Yes, both the auto headlights and auto wiper have hysteresis.

If you don't have maxidot do this:

Ignition on but engine not running.

Pull indicator lever towards you and then move it up (for on) or down (for off) for 3 seconds to activate or deactivate DRLs.

Stupid question time - Why would you want to get rid of the DRL? - You can't see them and they must make you more visible....

Al.

Great taxi choice there. You will get compliments from all different kinds of people whilst on hire.

`Battery drain`. I have disabled mine for that reason.

`Battery drain`. I have disabled mine for that reason.

How will the DRLs drain the battery? Only active when the car is running and engine/alternator is charging battery.

As per ukcruiser, they are there to make you more visible.

Battery Drain? - How long do you sit for with the ignition on?!

Al.

I never sit with my ignition on.

Surely the engine/alternator can only generate so much power...and some of that must be going to the DRLs and not to the battery...or have I got that completely wrong?

Don't understand - your talking battery drain when driving?

The Alternator is around 120 -140Amps (1440-1680 watts) depending on model) & (should be more than) big enough to run headlights + sidelights + brake-lights + heated screen + heated washers + Nav + seats and still have plenty spare to charge the battery...

The 2x 20 watt DRL's are nothing.... the battery alone should be able to sustain the DRL's for 40+ hours

Or have I missed the point completely?!

Al.

I think probably not.

I know absolutely nothing about this sort of thing.

I'm obviously being over cautious in protecting my battery. (It goes back many many years when my cars would fail due to a depleted battery).

The figures you quote above tells me you know what you're talking about.

Tomorrow I will re-enable my DRLs.

Many thanks for your input.

Regards.

Mike.
