Uprated Internals?

Featured Replies

uprated internals????

as anyone looked at uprating the internals of their 1.8T?

maybe new crank - forged pistons etc?

how much power will it go to with these changed?

Doesn't the 225bhp TT engine have uprated internals?

Remapping withthe bigger K04 (not the AmD one) turbo sees 260-280bhp so it obviously can handle this much.

225 block uses same std of internals at a slightly diff bore..

was meaning much higher quality/power than that....

No, the 225 has stronger block and internals and should be good for 400Hp.

But with even better rods and lower compression 500 to 600 is possible.

Omega pistons for one....

I'll let you know after the weekend, need to speak to "someone" :tapssideofnosewithfimgersmiley:

:D

What I forgot to say was, don't worry about internals, the 1.8T is very strong.

Almost no engines has been destroed by power, always some other problem with

detonation or lean conditions.

But over 250HP a new clutch is probably needed.

Over 300Hp and the gearbox, differential and drive axles could break is you

try dragrace starts. You should change them if you are not a very careful driver.

Eric,

Certain people on here, who shall remain nameless, are looking for about 400-450 for day to day and 500+ for other uses.

I think I may be needing some new internals :D

How about a 2.0 Stroker Kt with upgraded internals? EBD Tuning makes one for the 1.8 Turbo that's said to sustain boost for over 500hp.

Eric you are right the bore is differenton the tt 225 block... the internals are of sameish quality (in relation to aftermarket) but the block is stronger.. i have been advised that more uprated internals exist for the 150/180 bore though?

Probably stating the obvious but BHP isnt everything, their are a fair few Scoobs running 400+ on the rollers but the powerband is narrow & lower powered cars can beat them on the track.

A wide power band & good torque is esential for a driveable car.

VAG have probably spent a lot of time getting the ideal bore/stroke relationship & stroking the engine would I guess alter the Engine characteristics considerably

Ive heard the standard internals can take up to 400 BHP but as Eric has said, long before you get there you need to look at the gearbox, clutch, driveshafts etc

Stuart, you know what these RS boys are like, they are drawn to bhp figures like moths to a lightbulb, nothing else matters

;)

Had seen it, chose not to rise to it.....
