Just ordered my second yeti !

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've been running a white yeti 2.0 tdi 110 2wd SE for the past year and a half, and I've loved every minute of it.

I wanted the 4x4 elegance version when I bought my 110 2wd SE, and after this last lot of snow we had I decided its time to change.

The 2wd yeti is shocking in snow and some times embarrassing as everyone expects it to be a 4x4 an breeze through the snow.

Any way other than that I don't have a single complaint about the yeti. Hence this making my decision to stay with the model.

I have just placed my order for a new muscovado yeti 140 elegance 4x4 tdi, I actually ordered white again to start with then changed my mind before I left the showroom, as I fancied something different but still love it in white, i hope I made the right decision (the wife didn't influence this at all)

I'm so excited to get the car, I can't believe after a year and a half of driving this car I'm still as passionate about it as I was when I first bought one. The dealer has said it should be ready for collection in march just in time for the new reg.

This brings me too the dealer, Simpsons skoda. I had advertised my 110 yeti SE for £15,000 to no avail. I assumed the dealer would offer me a really poor quote like my local dealer DM. Keith did at £13,500 and they came back with what I thought was a great offer of £15,500 considering I paid £16,995 I thought it was a great deal. And I managed to get a service deal for free too.

Sorry if I'm ranting I just feel the need to share my good news with fellow enthusiasts.

I can't praise my current yeti enough and I hope I have the same feeling about the new one.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Welcome to the second Yeti club. I'm sure you have made a good choice. You could only better it by adding DSG and making it aqua blue :giggle:

You will love the colour, very easy to live with.

I hope your right, I was so tempted to go white again.

Good to hear you love the yeti so much you have ordered a second   . Your deal is similar to mine when I swapped my 1.2 for my 110 4x4 , for similar reasons to yours, snow and getting to the shoot car park through a wood on a mud track every other weekend.

Hope the wait is not to long and it is as good as your present yeti.

Thanks, this just made me wonder how many people on the forum might be on their second yeti, and what their reasons are for swapping? Could be interesting.

Were you tempted to keep the first one and have a fleet of Yeti? Aqua blue is no loger available having been replaced by Shark Blue, shame as my car seems to be a different colour every day dependant on the current light. Don't forget that 4x4 is not a miracle cure for snow and you will still need winter tyres.

Yeah thanks I will be asking for advise on winter tyres at the end of the year, lol I would have loved to have kept the current yeti so the wife could have it but she loves her slime green Mazda 2 too much.

I was even tempted to go for the rosso brunnello but I've never seen it.

Technically on my third but actually my second :giggle:

Went from an SE 140 4x4 to an Elegance 110 4x4; no overall reason I suppose for changing, other than a very good offer to sell it to a dealer and then buy another. Had thought of another SE140 with options but after talking with James who sold me the current Monster, it made more financial sense to get a better equipped Elegance 110 4x4 instead. To be honest I've not missed the 140 engine, as in day to day driving there's little to choose between them and the engines are physically the same anyway.

Oh yes D.M Keith :bandit: not had any good dealings with them yet, sales or service and now will not go near them, as we say in our trade 'cowboys'.

Regard winter, then even with 4x4 proper tyres will be needed, like your with 2wd the useless factory supplied sports tyres are just as bad. Came close to breaking the first Yeti in snow due to those cursed 17" wheels, hence becoming a 16" wheel and winter tyre convert :)

This is my Rosso car prior to delivery last month, I have not had a chance to take a decent photo since because of the filthy weather, but I will update when the sun comes out and a bucket of water has been thrown over

I may have to buy 4 seasons, as I don't think I can justify paying out for a set of 4 winter tyres and steel wheels next winter.

As for DM Keith they offered me that low price and i just said no straight away, and they kept calling me all day increasing there offer the tiniest amount, which i was still insulted by, my car is immaculate. but any way back to the point, what a difference in price.

it shows it pays to shop around. I'm surprised more people haven't commented on this

And by the way I ordered 17 spitzbergs, hope the 17s aren't too shocking next winter.

Thanks for the advise TP

*edit* how is it your third/second yeti? intrigued?

That's actually really nice, I hope I don't regret the muscy :(

Welcome to the second yeti owners club!

Muscovado is a great colour and you cant see the mud!

When you say you got £15,500 for your old yeti presume that was PX against the FULL price of the new elegance?

The elegance spec is excellent, BTW.

If you have two drivers like me the electric seat is a brilliant addition with lots of adjustment and memories linked to separate keys.

That's correct yes it was against brand new full price 140 2.0 TDI 4x4 Elegance

The spec looks good, I'm annoyed that the SE plus has the Columbus unit and the elegance on has bolero, what's that all about?

Se plus has Amundsen +. ( rns310 ) not Columbus, still a very good unit though, I have the Amundsen in both of my cars, £300 on e- bay......

Interesting comments on DM Keith.Living on the IOM, they are the easiest Main Dealer to deal with "Off Island". Doesn,t bode well with the comments made above, will have to have a rethink.

Ordered my first Yeti in the first week of August 09 before the official launch, however when it arrived in the UK in the later part of September, it was discovered a requested option was missing and could not be retrofitted. Decided to reject the car and place another order. Therefore ordered and had built three Yeti's but actually only taken delivery of two.

Ah its the amundson is it I stand corrected but it's still better than bolero.

Dm Keith were fine when they were selling me my current yeti, but the px they offered was terrible and when they kept upping their offer all I could think was how cheeky that they offered so low to start. At the highest they only offered £300 more which is still an insult.

I've got my second Yeti arriving mid-March - I get a car allowance from work and one of the conditions is that my car is less than four years old.

Both elegance and SE have the Bolero as standard

The SE Plus is an 'inbetweener' with amundson sat nav, picnic tables, jazzy seats and a 6CD changer in the boot so I think you can have 12 CDs altogether.

I suspect more and more folks are using SD cards now for music.

Ordered my second Yeti yesterday from Gordon Lamb, Chesterfield. First came from there; says it all really don't it!

I have gone for the same again, TDI 110 4X4 SE but in Rosso Red instead of Grey, factory fitted options - spare wheel and toolkit plus off road button.

Went across an open moor road today, winter tyres (Vredestein Quadtrack) are very good up and down very steep hills and small drifts, hardest part was wiping the smile off my face - great vehicle! Oh and yes fuzzybunny,I use SD card for my music.

Tony, if you would like to send me a personal message, I have a polite suggestion re dealers for you, but do not want to put in in plain view on the forum.

Another guilty party in the SYOC sub division of the SMOC.

TIBET I was ordered through James at Allams (on the first day the CR170 became available in the UK) and TIBET II followed just under three years later - this time helped by Beth and Linda at Allams after James departed these shores for sandier climes.

CR170 before and the same again. Both Yetis were/are on the 3 year Skoda finance deal. No proper reason to change accept the payments remained the same and I ended up with a brand new Yeti with a few more toys to play with for only a small cash inject - no MOT, 3 years more warranty, breakdown cover etc.

TIBET I had completed 36k by the time I part-ex'd it (left it Allams on the Saturday and it was bought on the Monday) and it only lost 30% of its value which I think is outsatnding. Obviously it may not be as good next time round. Only faults were a driver's seat squab heater fail (sorted by Allams) and a DPF differential pressure sensor (IIRC) that failed causing the 'I need a regen' light to stay on. All sorted on a Sunday morning by Skoda Assist. Apparently the Malaysian sensors are good - the American ones aren't....

Loved the Tibetan White and only changed because it just seemed sensible to have a different colour. I hadn't seen a white one in the fur before ordering TIBET I and the same went for the Tibetan Bronze. So pleased I did though - that colour with the black roof and Matterhorns (ordered as an extra) is just awesome (okay, the Duracell effect....).

Next time should be about the time for the Mk II Yeti. Don't need 7 seats though. I can't see me ever wanting any other vehicle as it does everything I want absolutely perfectly - and the stability, handling and grip of the quattro-esque [ ;) ] 4WD system is a huge comfort when clambering over the Chilterns mid winter.

Now who will be the first member of the TYOC (TP - you don't quite qualify yet.... :giggle: )

You might want to look at a vid that Bossfox posted recently on driving his yeti in the snow which was impressive - he used Goodyear 8's on his.

this is from the which reports- not the same size tyres but it'll give you some ideas. mytyres.co.uk do wheel and tyre sets too.
