You might want to look at a vid that Bossfox posted recently on driving his yeti in the snow which was impressive - he used Goodyear 8's on his.

this is from the which reports- not the same size tyres but it'll give you some ideas. mytyres.co.uk do wheel and tyre sets too.

Thank littleade, I hope the price drops a lot in summer :)

So do I! Tho it's not as bad as it seems because if you're keeping the same car for a few years you then spread the wear across 2 sets of tyres, plus of course you've also got the added safety factor which is what winter tyres are all about

That's very true and I plan on keeping my next one for a long time.

Just spoke to the dealer I'm buying the car from and asked if I could change my order to a l&k they said I might not be able to do this as the order has gone through.

Does anyone else think that's wrong as the build day is not till March so other than paperwork nothing has actually happened .

Surely I should be able to ammend my order?

I'm awaiting a call back.

You should be able to change any order/options etc. up until a build week is confirmed.

They have told me a build date of week commencing 4th March.

They have told me a build date of week commencing 4th March.

I understand that a build week remains merely an estimate until it becomes "confirmed" by the factory, generally around 7/10 days beforehand. Until the build week is actually "confirmed", it should be possible to amend your order, though you may well find your dealer averse to this.

They said that the order has gone through so there's nothing they can do to stop it and that car will be delivered to them in March if I decide to have it or not.

So i just said ok I won't mess anyone around I'll just stick to the elegance.

It just seemed that for the sake of an extra £1800 ish you get so much more kit as standard.

Thanks for your help guys

Has Skoda got an on line order tracker like VW http://www.volkswage.../track-my-order

If build week "confirmed" - no chance of a change, if not - maybe possible. My recent VW order took 2 weeks form order place to "confirmed", and up till that time, changes were possible

In your position I would cancel the Elegance if dealer won't play ball and just re-order the L&K (transferring deposit). The dealer will then have an Elegance in stock which he should sell OK, so it's a win/win situation. Was your deposit non refundable? If they refuse to give it back tell them you will order the L&K at another dealer - they will soon change their mind!

Thanks for the advice truthseeker. I'm not sure if the deposit was refundable.

At the end of the day it's my indecisiveness that's caused the problem so I'm happy to just settle with the elegance.

I'm a little disappointed but it's not a big deal.

I might still call them tomorrow and see what they say.

I have been in exactly the same situation before. Do it, as every time you see an L&K you will kick yourself, even if you signed to say deposit was "non refundable", the dealer will have the discretion to swop to new order.

If you don't mind me asking, how much was the deposit?

£500

I agree with all those here who say yes you can still change the order and you should. Don't accept laziness from the dealer - he's taking a lot of money from you. Tell him about the Briskoda site and the publicity he's getting!

i agree with this, it is a lot money, the dealer will have no problem selling the other one...

i'm keeping to my order of an se plus though, it is still waiting to be shipped.....

Get the Skoda UK order number and then contact them direct if you get no joy from your dealer.

Email the factory. Make a nuisance of yourself until they change the order. It will be worth it.

The customer is King. You are there to be served by them. You are not doing them a favour by buying from them!!!!!

If all fails, cancel the order, get a refund on your credit/debit card (from the card company-you should be covered) and buy what you want elsewhere.....

Well I'm awaiting a call back from them they have been very helpful so far but, it definatly sounds like they don't want to help.

He said they have to de-tag it from a customer and they loose money for doing that.

I mentioned the forum to which he said "you don't want to be talking to other people about it, you need to talk to us". To which I said excuse me I'm entitled to voice my opinion anyway I choose.

If they say I will lose the deposit I'll be very ****ed and I will make sure that everyone knows the full story.

...This brings me too the dealer, Simpsons skoda...

Perhaps it's time to show a name - is this the one?

As pointed out, you won't lose a deposit if paid by credit card. This dealer (or salesperson, at least) sounds the absolute pits.

So basically they said there is a chance I will lose the deposit, and that I will lose the px price they have offered as it will be after march when it arrives so that will drop.

I'm thinking about pulling out and going elsewhere.

I wonder if they're up against an allocation issue?

Sounds like a company to avoid - or at least one whose staff need some customer care training!

Lay it before them that if they won't change the order, you'll cancel and your CC company will instigate a chargeback - loselose for them :)

Before you cancel I'd make sure you can source an L & K elsewhere though?

hmmm the statement about you should be talking to us would be enough for me to tell them where to place the order :)

Agreed I can hardly believe a salesperson would talk to a customer like that.

My reaction would have been some basic Anglo Saxon!

Read your posts and totally understand you are annoyed at the dealer and a bit miffed by the situation. I would stand back and think what you really want to do. Is the Elegance you ordered a stadardish car with a few minor options. If so and that is what you have ordered I believe you still have the right car and paying £2,000 more for the LK is not worth it. On the car the nav and the roof are the value items the rest is no big deal IMO.

I have my 4th Yeti Elegance on the way, low options and honestly if I had ordered the roof or nav I would be annoyed but I choose neither so therefore I still believe I am in the box seat on this one. I would be firstly changing the car to a 170 and staying Elegance if you are low spec. Owned firstly a 140 and this will be our 3rd 170, the later does better mpg and is just such a nicer drive IMO.

Either way you have a great car on order, you were happy with the deal so you are good to go. The other advantage of the Elegance is you can have Gobi leather which makes a really nice cabin.
