ODB tri-core protected remap

Featured Replies

I'm thinking about remapping my Scout 2.0 CR.

I like the idea of a switchable map.

Currently as far as I can tell only revo and superchips do a odb switchable remap for the protected ecu's, once they have tweeked the ecu on the bench to be map-able through the OBD. With Superchip seemingly being the better one as it keeps your original map, ie a true switch between original and remap, where as revo seems to have a revo original map and a revo remap.

Does anyone else offer switchable maps on the protected ecus? APR?

With maps on diesels are they all much of a muchness? I would happily go to shark but they dont seem to offer the switchable option that I'd like, I guess part of this that dad will follow me with what ever option I opt for his yeti is much newer and therefore would want to switch come service time.

Also i'm thinking about a new job that would mean an additional 25,000 miles a year, thus are these eco remaps just smoke (no pun intended) and mirrors?

Although I have to say that i was looking at the RICA website and they have done the same tests that the manufactures do for co2 urban mpg etc on the e-power remap and this would lead one to believe that there is indeed no smoke or mirrors.

Cheers

Wouldn't the Shark map be switchable with one of their STS units once the ECU has been tweaked?

My APR map is fully switchable from the indicator stalk.

Before Christmas I did contact shark and ask but the person that would know wasn't there so they took my email and details, but I heard nothing so have assumed that the answers is no. Could be wrong though and might ask agian?

I do like the idea of the indicator stalk, but are diesel apr maps any good?

At this point our STS doesn't support the ECU used in the CR engine, but that should change in the (very) near future.

I'm sorry no one got back to you, I have to say that I do try to keep a close eye on messages etc to ensure that everyone is got back to. My apologies if that's not the case.

Shark 90 Would this require ecu removal like all the others?

My other thought is that superchip has the bluefine as standard and currently has 20% off, ie £365, which just seems a great buy....

I know that the others might be better, but not sure the extra price would be worth it?

How old is your Scout? Most CR Scouts are newer than 59 plate which means they would be protected, and require ECU removal.

If you are interested in an impartial view, from someone that's had bluefin, revo, jabba sport and shark on vag cars; go for Shark where possible. If you can't then I wouldn't recommend you go for superchips. With ecu mapping I've found you get what you pay for. :-)

We do have software available for this ECU, though as Shark mentioned, your ECU would likely have to come out to be flashed. Feel free to PM or email me with any questions :)
