And no, it didn't "bong" at me when I left work tonight.

i am waiting for the thread about a tyre going down on him, and he should be so lucky

oh well back to the corner

I reported the same 'Bong' to the cheif Tech at my dealer..He had no idea what causes it

A Bingley Bong!

If the car is not turned on and you have opened the door and have the indicator stalk is either left or right it will bong as it has activated the park lights on either the left or right hand side of the car.....

A nice pair from BobDog:

Woman walked into a bar and asks for a double entendre, so the barman gave her one. And I always thought that innuendo was an Italian suppository? Bad taste enough for you?

Blimey. And I though humour had died with Arthur Askey!!

As I've said before, nothing is left on, lights, indicators, etc.

It didn't do this morning either.

I'm still convinced it is a low battery warning.

I have been having battery problems with mine..It doesnt "Bong" with a low battery

No stalks moved from centre either

As I said..The dealer techie doesnt know why either

WRC, no, as that only works when you turn the ignition on. This "bong" was quite definately when I opened the passenger door first.

Bobby, gave that up many, many years ago.

Graham the Aged Hippy.

I've had the 'BONG' also on numerous occasions while driving.

I know its not low fuel or below 4C as they are different sounds and have symbols in the Maxidot.

Its also not the TPM either, so I just ignore it.

But what if Ivor is warning me of something important and I'm doing nothing about it??

Weird isn't it Mac?

Chris, sorry about your tale of woe with your Octavia, but there is nothing wrong with the battery on my Yeti. It keeps it charge and always starts the car. However it had been standing unused for 7 days, in freezing temperatures, so I would expect the battery to lose some of it's charge. That is why I think this "bong" may be connected.

Shouldn't lose that much charge in 7 days unless you're battery is knackered.

I give up on this!

I know my battery is not knackered. However the only time I can remember hearing this bong in the past was when we had left the hatchback open for a long time when we were moving, and then the other night after the car had been stood for 7 days, in temperatures down to -8.

So I repeat,

My battery is showing a health charge.

I did not leave anything turned on.

It was not the alarm.

It was not the temp warning.

It was not the lights on alarm.

It was not the Bluetooth.

It WAS a warning for something, but appears that no-one knows what it could be.

A thought; perhaps it's a warning I've left Bob in the corner, and it's time to let him out?

Perhaps a glitch in the software where the car sees ghost controls on the left, then remembers its rh?

Graham, then what's MY bong for??? :giggle:

Another theory is it is a warning that the battery in the remote is getting low......

I am sure this is not the same, but stranger things and all that...

My old mk1 would seemingly produce random bongs when using the aftermarket cd/mp3 player. Every couple of hours a loudish bong would startle us, only with the music thing playing. Not too bad when thrashing along to some death metal, but could be unnerving if listening to Eddi Reader on Transatlantic sessions.

Never got to the bottom of it, but it was only really used abroad. Johnny Foreigner eh? Something in the water?

Considering that my remote works from probably nearly 100 yds away I don't think that is applicable.

(Handbook says to replace battery when remote has to be CLOSE to car!)

OK, maybe it's the remote pairing itself to the vehicle......

I used the remote to unlock the passenger side door, then I opened it, and THEN I got the bong.

Pairing has got nothing to with it.

I think we have come to the conclusion it is a "Bob's Corner inhabitted" warning!

Or a warning letting you know everything is functioning perfectly.....

What, Bob's behaving himself?

No chance!! :giggle:

And if that was the case everyone's car would do it..........................

MacDemon

re your BONG, as opposed to the Welsh one... are you by any chance depressing the left roller button on the steering wheel. This activates the phone system and announces itself with a pronounced chime. (If you can find the Freshacre channel on YouTube where I've put a short vid of the Yeti climbing a short sharp green hill. As I turn at the top ready to descend, I catch the button and you can hear the BONG. It IS followed by a lady asking something, but you may not hear that.)

English bong.

There'll be a Scottish bong next!!
