This is changing my existing Swift Cover from Scooby to Audrey (still with 6months to run).

I have NEVER PAID more thn 600pnds in premium in my life!!!! Eeeek!

Just out of interest who and what are u paying?

And wot is Audreys insurance group (22?)?

Not a superb, but a 2006 Octavia VRS. Auto renewal came through as £650, ( fully comp, business use, 6 years no claims, protected no claims ) so I got some quotes from the net and called my insurance company to see if they would match. Within a few mins they were now quoting £340. Now that still wasn't good enough, but I was quite annoyed that they dropped just over £300 just by calling.

Anyway, after comparing companies, ended up with the AA for £230 - So quite pleased, and even happier I never auto renewed.

Thks Bill.

I am well over 25 (catching u up fast Bill :-)

Have full NCB

Live north of Bradford (Bradfordians will be paying 2-3times premium to what i pay).

No business mileage nor mods and average mileage and average NHS office work.

So why am I paying £600+

And i am hearing u guys paying well less 1/2 of tht?!!! Eeek!

Hopefully it will come down to £300 whens its up for renewal.

Interesting premium are affected by age/locn/car/job etc.

Wonder if TIME OF YEAR to renew has an impact?

67 ain't old!

I am 44 . Never made a claim in my life no points etc . I live in Birmingham and pay £310 with a £100 excess. But I have always paid around the same no matter what car it has been for.

Afternoon Wayne,

As you know there's loads of variables that affect your premium, Post code being one of them....your job is also a factor too

Anyway although I've got Audrey's little (but fitter) sister  she's no where near as expensive...... and she's a goer

I'm 56, an engineer, got full protected NCD, no points or accidents in last 5 years. I'm on 6000 miles per year SD&P plus travel to and from my normal place of work, courtesy car included if I have a bump. 62 plate Octavia vRS CR170 Blackline, insurance group 28, Mrs little ade on policy fully comp £257. I'm with Saga.

Don't pay without ringing them up and getting them to explain the increase..... Is there a Mrs wayne, does she drive, is she on the policy cause that will drop the premium if she's got a good driving and insurance record...

Afternoon Ade!

Thks for the detailed breakdown! :-)

No Mrs Wayne :-(

Full-time single parent with 2boys + full-time job.

I wish i asked for advice here 1st - i already paid up the increased in premium

due to Andrey.

So an expensive lesson for me!!! :-(

I consider quite savvy on the internet shopping front.

Cashbacks, vouchers etc etc

But i am a poor negotiator and never thought abt ringing to negotiate -

thinking the internet is always cheaper.

Only time i ring up is to threaten to leave Virgin / Mobile contracts in

order to get a good deal!

Sept 2013 is marked in my calendar.

I will be back thn to ask for more advice!!!

Cheers all!

hi Wayne

if you have only just renewed your insurance you must have a cooling off period speak to them ask if you can cancel your policy and if there are any penalty's.

go on compare the market first to see what you can get insured

Hi Bill

No its not a renewal.

Current Scooby insurance runs out in Sept.

All i done is register Audrey to be insured from Tues 29th Jan.

And for tht i had to pay a £72 premium :-(

I'm 27 and pay a mere 580 :)

£177.33 basic premium, fully comp, PNCB, business use, wife as named driver.

I paid £25 for Legal Protection and accepted £250 voluntary excess and £100 compulsory excess.

This is with RSA through the AA

Didn't think it was too bad - Skode wanted £500 or £600 - I cant remember as I didnt take it seriously!

Am i seeing a trend here?

Unless one is in the 20s - thn expect to pay around 200pnd +/- 50pnd?

Unless of course your first name is Wayne?!!! Eeeek!

Wot?!!!

Hmmm...29....i ll round u up to 30s.

My last statement still counts...unless in 20s....

Well done, G_Tee - u done well.

I'm 67. Fully comprehensive with spouse and self driving. £300 excess. £176.54 with SAGA.

Ray

Now pay £300 up from £270. I did this on purpose by switching to an Admiral multi car policy.

We were on the hunt for insurance for our 18 year old daughter for her first car (new Hyundai i10)

Most quotes were about £1200 plus, with Admiral it came down to £610 with my wife and I as named drivers so overall I could stomach the slight increase on mine.

Also added my wife's car onto to it as well now

around £470 - 3 drivers, 29 male, 29 female, 67 male, 18,000 miles, 12 years NCB, protected, business cover, inc factory options (Heated screen, tinted Glass, MDI all declared) Admiral Multi car.

Al.

I've just renewed with LV for a 3rd year, £303 protected NCB, fully comp in Europe for multi trips, Premium loan car and legal cover. excess is £150

annual 25,000 miles including a declared 18,000 business miles.

tried a couple of comparison sites and wouldn't have saved enough to worry about changing but could have paid £500+ and then AVIVA which was £ 450.

very happy especially as I had a side window bricked in December.

Myself and wife as named drivers 46 & 45.
