How much is your insurance?

Is anyone with NFU?

Apparently the very best company to be with...but so, so expensive. Far too expensive for me anyway.

Oh

It just seems strange that I have to go to a branch to get a quote?!!!

But in general have not heard anything bad or expensive about them - so thought I give them a try sometime...

Hi Bill

No its not a renewal.

Current Scooby insurance runs out in Sept.

All i done is register Audrey to be insured from Tues 29th Jan.

And for tht i had to pay a £72 premium :-(

Hi Wayne,

The £72 counts as a new financial transaction, so covered by the cooling off period. If you want, you can get your £72 back, cancel your policy with Swift Cover, get a pro rata refund for the remainder of the policy that runs until September and then start a fresh policy with another insurer via one of the comparison website. moneysavingexpert.com has a guide to getting the cheapest price.

I got a multi-car policy on two cars (the other is my wifes Auris) and with £75 Quidco cashback (yet to get it), it works out at £200 per car. I'm 32 and insured for work mileage and 20k a year. Never paid £200 before but I was thrilled.

U know when u get an insurance quote and they ask "Have u ever had a policy cancelled?"

Why they ask that?

And wot is the impact?

It's if the insurance company have cancelled the policy...

Missed payments, breach of terms etc etc

Artichoke!

I need to buy u a pint whenever we hook up!!!   Ok, THREE pints then!

Just rung Swiftcover (my insurer):

1. If I can find a cheaper quote from them (get a quote from swiftcover.com), then I get back £417 (out of original £539)

2. If I cancel and go somewhereelse, I get back £365 (due to £52 cancellation fee)

But, the £72 I paid to switch from Scooby to Superb - does not have the cooling period apply - so will not get it back.

But, having said that, Swiftcover said the £72 should be included in the REFUND since the Superb insurance does not start until Tues 29th Jan

Swiftcover to refund £365.

ESure wants £340 (minus Quidco £25 cashback)

My refunds pays for the Superb insurance for 12months and still have change!!!

Thks everyone!!!

LOL

Thank you for the compliment!

I've been with direct line for about 5 years. They throw discounts at you if you have other insurance with them. My home insurance gets me an extra 10% off, having another motor insured with them gets me another 10% off, plus whatever online discount promo they have at the time. And you then get the same discounts on those other policies too. At renewal time I just get an online quote from them, and call them up to get them to match their own online price. Saved me about £500 last year online vs renewal across my 3 policies. Tis bonkers.

My Superb came in at £201 from Ist Central last April about £100 less than the renewal from Diamond. The insurance is in my wifes name with me as main driver. It has protected no claim and an excess of £250. Only snag was it did not include green card for Europe and this cost a further £45 for two weeks in September. Unfortunately the car was a victim of hit and run in France so we had to claim when we got back. I wonder what difference that will make at renewal. I always shop around, online, but think our age helps a bit, one of the only advantages of getting older.

  • 4 weeks later...

£265.73 for two named drivers, fully comp with full no claims, on a 2013 2.0 170 DSG estate L&K. Home is rural Southern England, car kept on drive, and full Europe cover is included...with LV. My previous, a Santa Fe (but cover identical) was £330.20 last year.
