Blown headlights.... WHY?!

Featured Replies

Good evening all,

This evening when I got in the car I noticed I had a headlight out, and the other one was fine. I got out the car to quickly check and when I got in the car they had both gone out :@ It's weird as they are the only lights on the car that aren't working.... Even my high beam works :S

I have checked fuses 6, 30, 50, 54 and they are all fine, the bulbs themselves are Osram Night Breakers that are only 1 year old and have not seen too much use.

I think the problem is; I fitted a pair of Can-Bus LED number plate bulbs and one of them blew and the other was fine (coincidentally on the same side of the car as my first headlight blew) and I replaced the LED with a non Can-Bus jobby that my Brother had spare.

The stranger thing is.... I thought Fabias did not have the Can-Bus system? It's a late 07 if that's any help.

Thanks

Don't think Number plate lights are monitored. They're not on my Octy.

moisture?

It is unusual for both bulbs to blow within a very short time, I agree.

I'm not sure whether canbus monitors number plate lights but it does monitor headlights.

You say the bulbs are osram night breakers.

Are they the newer Plus type?

If not, then I know the ordinary night breakers were known for not lasting very long, which is why the Plus version was developed.

The reason the high beams still work is they have a different filament and don't get as much use.

Try fitting another, known, good bulb and see if it works?
