Rear wiper/wash

Featured Replies

I bought my car from a main dealer and is still under the dealer/Skoda warranty. I used the rear wash for the first time today after not using it for the last week or so due to the bad weather and nothing came out. Further investigation showed it was pouring out of the boot lock and filling the wheel well. I guess the connection in the boot lid has come apart. But I then noticed the rear wiper was stuttering across the screen and then stopped mid sweep and won't return! I guess the motor is shagged too...

Is this going to be covered under the warranty?

The pipe has come off yes probally due to clogged washer jet. Very common problem with these. The motor is probally shot too and yet another common problem which should be covered under warranty.

Dealers are reluctant to repair this under warranty. I've had it done once and they said they wouldn't do it for free again - but TBH it's better done yourself as the dealer won't get reimbursed for this so may be tempted to do a less than thorough job......

Just had mine replaced under warranty, no problems at all, and no questions asked.

Sounds like a mixed bag. Will book it in and not take any crap from them! The car's due a service in 800 miles anyway.

Just had this happen to mine, design flaw :(, looking back over the service history the cars had 2 or 3 new rear washer jets over it service life.

Mine was in today for same reason (as well as a DSG knocking noise) and they confirmed it was the motor - apparently very common (even more so) on 61 plate and newer. The mechanic at the main dealer said it was a certain brand and batch of wiper motor which is on all the new cars and they are having an extremely high failure rate. He said Skoda are sourcing the motors from another supplier and they have been on back order for the last 4 weeks.

My car is 4 months old too. it started stuttering and then died. Though it will be covered under the warranty.

Why won't they replace it a second time? If it's still under warranty I can't see how they'd refuse.
