Need some quick help please, Fabia 1.4 8V vs 1.4 16V

Featured Replies

I've posted this in the wrong forum, ops.....

So here we go again:

As per the title, pros and cons of the two.

Both cars are 2003 with almost the same mileage 83/85 XXX

I don't know anything about this petrol engines so your input is priceless.

Thanks peeps.

MPi:

Good solid engine that'll go on for ages

Economical

Less to go wrong

Less powerful

You can run it on normal 95RON unleaded

16V:

More power (101 BHP)

You get rear disk brakes included

Not as economical as the MPi

It's highly recommended you run it on at least RON98 Shell V Power

It has a bit of an appetite for oil if the former hasn't been done.

Costs more to insure

I'd still have mine over the MPi

If you scroll back to Page 4 of this forum you will find a thread "Good First Car -Skoda Fabia 1" which attracted a lot of replies. Among them are comparisons between the 8v and 16v versions and you will hopefully find some useful information there. I'm pretty sure there have been several similar threads but the above is the most recent that I can remember.
