Moving on, but not too far!

Hi All,

It's 3 years this month since I ordered my Superb Elegance 4x4 estate, which was delivered in April 2010.

She's been fantastic, looks good, and goes just where i point her, but last year, i lost my mam to Cancer aged 63, after 14 months of fighting it. (23 weeks in Hospital, 4 of them in Intensive care, 9 days on a ventilator / life support, 14 hours of surgery and 6 months of Chemo)

Dad, now aged 66 wanted to replace "mams" car, as it was all one big memory of his late wife.

So, i offered him my Skoda (He's hopefully retiring this year, as he stayed on to keep his mind occupied)

So i've been looking around for what to replace the Superb with (no real need for 4x4 as i can just take the Superb if the weathers that bad)

I started off driving an XC70 (Horrendous engine and gearbox - D5 SELux Auto) The Audi A4 and A6 were smaller than the Superb's boot (need a big boot for work) The new SantaFe appealed, but at £35k it's a lot for a Hyundai, the Ford SMax i like, but i'm still not 30 so the image didnt appeal.

On Wednesday, i test drove an E 250 CDI BlueFFIENCY AMG Sport (PreReg, Priced very well - around the same as an L&K DSG) and came with a lovely twin-turbo engine and 7 speed auto. - I collected it yesterday, and it's Lovely. Big, comfortable and "hopefully" economical (Tax at £135 for 12 months)

So, here she is - She'll be getting my late mothers registration in a few weeks when log books etc come back.

I'll still be here as we still have a Skoda in the house!

Thanks, Al.

hi Al

sorry to hear about your mum i can still remember when i lost mine and that was 30 years ago i don't think you ever forget losing your parents at least you still have your dad.

also sorry to hear you had to down grade your car some times you have to make these hard decisions.but i am sure you will get used to that in time.

on the positive side the one thing i do miss in the superb is that sweet V6 engine i had in my Mercedes estate so smooth with a Little grrrrrrr when you put your foot down

ha ha - thanks Bill, the E Class was a car i looked at (and couldn't afford) before the Superb; now when the face-lift is on it's way later this year, a pre-facelift is at a great price.

And... it's done my dad the world of good getting rid of "mams" car.

Al.

all the best al with the new car can we have some more pics.

make sure you look after your dad now he is on his own must be a terrible loss for him.

The Merc looks nice.........especially the gunsight on the bonnet! :giggle: I've always liked them for exactly that reason! Good luck with it
