Bottom of the drivers side dash down where your feet are, look up and you'll see a purple connector IIRC.

As above, it's above accelerator pedal to the right.

Turn key so car is "on" but engine not running.

can anyone tell me if i buy cheap cable and download free ross-tech software can i change things like drl lights on/off, turn lights on/off etc or is this a waste of time? i have a good mechanic who has all the gear but dont like asking him to do things if i can do them easily myself

I wouldn't buy a cheap cable it will either be a fake and be locked into that software version or it will need re-registering with rosstech as a new user think thats about £100 anyway so i would just get a genuine cable you then get lifetime support and updates. Cheapest authorised seller i found was Nigel ( [email protected] ) hes listed on the ross tech website and i can vouch for him being legit. But yes to answer the other part of the question you can change personalise settings on the car using the cable like DRL's. Although your mechanic friend would be the best bet.

On a MKI Fabia? No there are no separate DRL’s (it will just turn on the headlights…. if anything)
