ASR light came on and stayed on then went off?

Featured Replies

First real hiccup of the car really.

Was driving normally and seen the ASR light was on, tried to switch it off with no avail, 10mins later turned the car on then off and it went off and stayed off and would go on/off depending if the ASR button was pressed.

Early failing signs or just a hiccup?

Cheers

possibly first signs of an ABS sensor packing up. VCDS will tell you which corner it was, assuming it generated a fault code.

Did the ABS light not come on as well? The two usually work in tandem with ABS speed sensor issues.

No mate ABS didnt come on, this was what i was thinking first signs of failure i think if it comes on again then i need to investigate.

Maybe a rear brake cyl weeping and attracting brake dust onto the abs sensor and reluctor ring, if so you will need to clean the ring and sensor with a cotton bud soaked in meths, then replace the brake cyl and saturated brake shoes.

DB.

Ooops, just spotted its a VRS.

Same thing happened to me about two months ago.. everythings stil fine now

Had the same happen to me. Have replaced two ABS sensors due to faults but both ASR & ABS lights on. Driving last week in the snow, light came on, restarted engine, light went off and nothing since... Put it down to a one off electrical glitch as I've never had it previous.

Came on again but went off with driving. Will read the code with vcds if I can, what's the likely solution and problem?

Cheers

Sorted one of the wires had severed, bit of a pig job with a lowered car, one trolley jack and working in a cul de sac but touch wood the car has been used for more than 10mins with no ASR light.
