New car protection

Featured Replies

Evening all, my sister is currently looking at a new car and the dealer has offered to apply a new car protection to it for an extra £200. Has anybody heard of this and is it highly rated and would you recommend having it done?

In my personal opinion some sort of protection is well worth doing but not via a main dealer at their prices. You can buy products and appy a good protection yoursel for a fraction of the cost and a couple of hours work

Everyone to their own and this is just my opinion

The products are okay, but it's all down to prep and application. Maybe aren't given the appropriate amount of time to properly prepare the vehicle and so the product (as good as it is) will deteriorate rapidly.

Best to either do it yourself or get someone to do it for you ie a friend or detailer.

Yes, I agree, I had it done but was very disappointed with the result. I have learnt since that dealers simply don't have the time to do it properly. As said above...save your money and DIY or get a detailer to do it. That'll end up with a better result at much less cost.

Just to add my thoughts to this topic, all the above responses are valid and while some protection is better than none, you can spend the same amount of money and get a 'proper' new car protection detail completed that will look after the whole car as opposed to just a few small areas............:)

I read in the which reports they didn't think such 'sealers' were worth considering unless your sister does a lot of motorway miles. £200 will buty a lot of polish and products to do it yourself, if you're into that sort of thing, alternatively like above you could find a detailer who'll give you some quotes.

We had our Seat done 5 years ago with a similar product and I didn't think it was worth the money. It's a good money spinner for the dealers IMO
