Focus st's

Featured Replies

I was wondering if any of u guys have had or have friends that have or have had these ?

And how they compare to octy vrs's

The 225bhp 2.5 turbo st's ;)

Very nice, lovely sound, very, very thirsty :)

Probably going to be what replaces my vRS when i change :)

Quicker than the VRS - 6.5seconds or so 0-60 but not very good on fuel so I've heard. I had a Mazda 3 MPS (260PS) which was in a higher tax band but did much better in real-world fuel economy, presumably due to the slightly smaller capacity (2.3), direct injection and 1 less cylinder. Supposed to be a good drive and nice smooth power though.

Get an orange one!! B)

We have both the Octy vRS and the Focus ST in the household. I have the vRS and SWMBO has the ST. They are both brilliant but cars. This ST sounds great and can "make vey good progress". I would be the very happy owner of either of them. We tend to use the vRS for the longer journeys and when we need more room but the ST can be a lot more fun to drive (both in standard spec). vRS is slightly cheaper to run (depending how heavy a right foot you have) but both are brilliant cars. If you want more out and put sportyness then the ST wins but if you are more after a brilliant all rounder then it's the vRS hands down.

Guess we are lucky and have the best of both worlds ??

Can't fault them really except the interiors are tacky even compared to my Skoda. My VRS is as fast with a map too.

A friend has the Mazda 3 MPS after driving both this and the Focus, as he rated the Mazda higher.

That said, the bro-in-law had an ST3 recently and that didn't half shift.

I personally wouldn't have one because of the "thuglife" image they portray to me, instead I'd possibly consider the new Golf R20 or similar

I had an st-3 a few years ago!

Completly crap car!

Lock to lock steering is a joke

Completely horrible on fuel at 18mpg and it wasnt even fast!

A piller view is tragic

Basically i spent a lot of cash on the car and hated every single day of ownership of the thing! It was sold within a month!

I was stuck behind one the other day, for a little while

fugly, imho

Cheers guys :)

Theres a yummy orange one down the road that catches my eye

But i dont know

Its ok until the octy emerges from the garage :(

Then its

Vs this

Im just so over the top with the octy , just running ideas on what i like

And theres not much :(

Nice cars, very thirsty though!

That orange is too yellow

Lotus got the colour right with their B25 Chrome Orange

The colour stands out a mile on the road - more than any other colour - not good if you're discreetly trying to make progress ;)

Very thirsty, not that powerful given the engine size and has the chav image. Keep the Octy for now and perhaps get a Mazda 6 MPS instead? Still high tax though

My friend has a Focus ST and he likes it (he got a really good deal on the price at the time) but he spends twice as much on tires for the fronts then what I do in my 200bhp golf.

Personally the VRS has to be the best bet with fuel economy and quality.

Yeah, they're not too far apart, but one of magazines clocked the Mazda at under 6 seconds so flat out it's a bit quicker.

Of course ST vs VRS - you will lose the big boot and perhaps 2 doors depending on what you go for.

6 MPS is getting quite old now - 4-wheel drive though.

I've got a video of me playing with a friends R32 and losing, they sound so good :).

Mk5 R32?

Have a word Lloyd... MkIV or gtfo... ;)

Okay, so you might need to make them go a bit quicker... but the MkV is just soooooo ugly. Particularly the R32. I'd rather have a GTi than that stupid silvermouthed R.

Although the R32 pulled quite a bit on me, it wasn't massively ahead and my car is standard, apart from a drilled air box.

It was also a MK2 R32.
