fueling up?

Featured Replies

Hi there everyone, today i was filling the superb for the 6th time or so, i noticed the nozzle doesn't go all the way in, this wasn't the case with the octavia, the nozzle went all the way in, also noticed the other day i was going to a funeral (running late as usual) and the fuel light was on so had to jump in for fuel, and just my luck the only pump available is on the other side to the filler cap, so get the car as close as possible and pull the pump over and it had to angle, but the diesel didn't go in very well and had to keep pulling the trigger off till it settled back down again this was not an issue on the octavia.

Yeah, comes up on the forum from time to time. Some folks have the problem, others don't. Seems to be more of an issue with diesels, but is also down to the cut-off sensitivity of the nozzle.

Only filled my up twice since ownership,

Yep nozzle only goes in abt 1/2 -2/3 in.

In the past i find Jap cars like tht and just gotton used to it.

Sometimes a pain whn the nozzle thinks its full and keep cutting out -

in those cases either angle the nozzle differently or only squeeze the lever so tht its a

slower flow of fuel...it works for me anyway

Never had problem filling up from the other side.

Just have to park as close as possible and really pull the nozzle gun over!

Just bear in mind i used to fill-up with a LPG gun and tht was a real pain! :-)

Yep have the issue, if I angle the nozzle towards the rear of the car it stops the cutoff kicking in all the time.

Got a nozzle stuck once , panic time but managed to wrangle it free eventually , i only put it in a bit now

Had same with mine. As Coops says, rotating the nozzle so it's angled differently can help.

It must be the pumps you are using as I have had no problems at all with the nozzels not going in far enough.

I mainly use sainsburys or BP stations.

I have had some problems with it cuttong out but I have found that if I put the nozzel all the way in and then pull it out a small amount it is fine.

I got my Greenline 2 SE twindoor new in sept and have done nearly 18,000 miles so far and I fill up around 3 times a week.

top tip for those who dont know, when you look at your fuel gauge it has the picture of the pump next to it, the pump picture always has the nozzle on the same side you need to stop to fill it :sun:

That's an urban myth !

I've had problems with BP pumps, Sainsbury's pumps, Esso pumps. Just need to turn the nozzle a bit. I found if you put it in fully it can get stuck and needs a twist to get it to release.
