Its time for the SMF

Featured Replies

Hi guys just need abit of confirmation and peice of mind before i part with my cash..

My DMF is failing and id like to do the SMF conversion ive found a full conversion kit for a MK4 Golf gti 1.8T

for a steal of a price would anybody be able to confirm that this kit is correct for my 2002 Occy vRS

thankyou in advance

here is the link ....

That is cheap!

Not sure it's the right one though as the engine code for the VRS is AUQ. They do list a kit for the VRS but it's more expensive and is a non branded clutch. They also have SMF kits for the A3/TT with AUQ engines though they might have 4wd gearboxes?

euro parts doing there own for £200 all in just replaced mine 4 piece kit also got a promo code going on if you look on site, hope it helps.

I have a genuine G60 flywheel and a sash VR6 clutch in my vrs and have to say its one of best mods i've done, there is loads of threads with part numbers and prices.

The 4wd box is 6 speed and totally differant to the vrs 5 speed box

I took the plunge last night and clicked the buy it now button. In one of my previous threads a member on here showed my the one ive purchased,

i just wondered if anybody else was able to confirm the kit was correct

Looks fine?

it was you who recommended it to me buddy :)

I've done this this week too, but I'm going stage 2 soon so getting a higher rated clutch. That one seems fine just will only be good for normal/stage 1 power.

Let us know how you get on!

Possibly, but I've heard iffy stories on techniclutch.

Plenty of iffy stories about their "uprated" parts ie they take normal clutches, paint them red and call them "uprated".

If they are branded parts you should be ok

Oh bugger like what buddy ?

I've just had confirmation the clutch shall be delivered today so I shall let you guys know what it's like :S.

Well the clutch has arrived so its fast delivery

Upon opening the box it's as it was described in the add genuine Valeo clutch kit and the flywheel is a well made copy of the g60 flywheel very impressed for 135 quid delivered :)

its not how it looks but how it performs, their clutches have been known to fall apart very quickly

(says about flywheel being copy in this post above)

http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a3-s3-sportback-8p-chassis/152485-avoid-buying-parts-techniclutch.html

basically, they sell cra* copied parts, paint stuff to look like other stuff, bits don't line up, need tapping as aren't threaded, come bent, or fail after a few thousand miles if you are unlucky.

Hmm well I've had a good look at the clutch everything's stamped even the rivits that hold it together its all held together and tight and the thrust bearing is also Valeo so there shouldn't be and issues with that.

The flywheel looks to be spot on also hardened teeth everything tight it appears to have been balanced due to the machining on the back the plate bolts all drilled and tapped etc

First impressions good looks legit.

Time will tell when it's fitted

But if tesco can feed us horse surely a few bad reviews on forums is allowed :)

problem is its not a few bad reviews, its a lot of bad review, including a fabia owner on here, who received a 'painted' clutch that was sold as an uprated one. Just search the forums, they are a company i would never buy from!

Parts can be copied like anything else (fake parts are a big problem), its the source that needs to be legit, i trust tesco more than i do tecniclutch, and look what happened with tescos as you point out...

If its genuine, great, nice one, if its not, thats a new clutch needed in a few k time, plus all the labour again....that would really suck having to do it all twice.

Good luck!

I'm getting a custom clutch made to my box and the g60 flywheel for 200 quid. Rated to 350bhp, so there are bargains out there for good stuff!

I do get your point however it looks fine so it all depends what it's like fitted

Those painted one are carp, but cant see it being a fake Valeo clutch. Whens it getting sorted?
