The original factory wiper blades gave up the ghost a month back; or at least the nearside did with a separation of part of the wiping blade. Not bad I suppose, they had survived 20 months and 26k of motoring.

Replaced them with an after-market Bosch Aerotwin A980's pack at £16.99 delivered from fleebay.

My Yeti wiper blades lasted 18,000 miles around 2 years and the wife bought some cheap ones in Guisborough which were rubbish to get back home to Norwich after the blade started to split away from the holder.

Went on eBay and bought a really good pair of German Heyner ones for £18.00. These blades are of very good quality and have more spring supports along the blade to keep it firmly against the windscreen. They are better than the Bosch Aerotwin wiper blades I bought for my van and next time my combo van will have the Heyner ones fitted.

Have noticed that on cold days below 5* centigrade the Bosch ones start to judder badly.

Funny that my old car used to survive 5-7 years without having to change the blades?

My nearside blade disintergrated earlier in the week, so needed urgent replacement. Got Bosch ones from Halfrauds. ...£35 the pair, ouch!

Mine fail;ed early jan, replaced with Valeo blades all round, - so far no vibrations etc - however i'm in france and Valeo(French company??) rule!!

I think that either Bosch or Valeo will perform equally as well or better than the OEM products.

Strange my nearside blade went two weeks ago after 20,000 miles. Offside blade was ok. I wonder if it is anything to do with the cold weather we have been having recently. .

I purchased the Bosch aerotwin blades following recommendations on here, they seem to do the job.

My wipers seemed to be on the way out at about 23000 miles but I purchased (with some scepticism) a 'wiper blade renewal device' for about £7 from one of those Innovations-type catalogues that plop through the letterbox with monotonous regularity. It really works! And it has saved me having to spend more on replacing blades just a few weeks before the car is traded in.

Of course, it wouldn't be any use if the blades were split rather than just worn!

Dealer set full front and rear work out around £60. Used the voucher that came with the Service plan otherwise wouldn't have bothered. Seems the rear wiper is not a very common size.

I had to replace the fronts last September as they were starting to split and the rear one split recently, which explained why it wasn't wiping properly.

Rear lasted snout 32,000 miles. Front about 25,000 miles.

Replaced fronts with Bosch aero twin. Rear with genuine one bought from my local TPS dealer. Seemed cheaper than Skoda even though they supply Skoda. Rear was about £15, which still feels expensive for the size.

Read this post yesterday so I decided to check mine as the nearside one was noisy and leaving streaks on the screen, both wipers were split so I ordered a set using click and collect from Euro Car Parts in Leeds. £16.15 using code PARTS25 for a set of Valeo ones.

As well as scraping over ice - which I don't do, the horrid tree sap sticky stuff causes all sorts of mess and can set like araldite. Parking under trees in an attempt to find shade (south of France) has its drawbacks. I try to make an effort to wash it off.

I have some Bosch aero which are not wearing any better than the selling dealer fitment. The rear (combi) I got from a Skoda dealer, about £6, and still good enough.

I cannot believe how long some people leave their wipers before replacing them!!

On average I seem to replace mine evey 9 months, or as soon as they start to leave too many streaks.

And I invariably buy Bosch ones either on Ebay or Amazon; which ever has got the best deals at the time.

Part of the problem is that every time you turn on/off the ignition, the wipers "adjust" their position slightly on the screen - in theory to stop the rubber forming a set and then only wiping efficiently in one direction. This is fine normally, but when the wipers are frozen to the glass the blades eventually fail at their weakest point, the thinnest part of the rubber that runs between the retaining flange & the blade itself.

I replaced mine for Bosch Areotwin, just look for A980S which gives you a front set - the same as many Golfs - you should be able to find 'em for £18 to £20 on 'tinternet .

The rear blade is (I think) A282H, but is relatively expensive at around £12. I've not changed that one yet but need to so so soon. Perhaps someone who has fitted one can confirm the Bosch ref number?

if the A282H number is correct - and I don't see why it isn't - then a single 11" Bosch replacement for the rear is £10.40 (today) inc p&p on eBay .

I'll measure mine in the morning before ordering.

I can well believe that. The German specialist manufacturers make wiper blades that are considerably better than Bosch. My favourites are made by Spezial Werkzeugfabrik Feuerbach (SWF, now owned by Valeo, but the French wisely seem to have let them carry on producing top-quality blades). They wipe better than Bosch from the beginning and they last an improbably long time. I got 8 years out of one set, and I am fussy about wipers that are past their best.

SWF blades are available for the Yeti and that's what I'll be buying when the time comes.
