Is it mapped!? I can't quite tell!

Featured Replies

Well I've owned my 07 Fab VRS for 18 months now and still love it like I did on day 1.

But one thing I can't tell is has it been re-mapped or not. I bought it from a Skoda dealer and they had it advertised as boggo standard (which I wanted) but like they would advertise it as mapped anyway!

After plenty of stalking on here and reading other threads about the standard map and its torque spikes etc I'm beginning to think my car has abit more poke than it should.

After a 'spirited' drive home from playing a gig in Macclesfield on the twisted b-roads to Knutsford (just to go past the Mclaren garage sickkkkkkkk) I was finding that she was pulling all the way to around 4k then the power would just drop off completely now am I right in saying the standard map has power to around 3k?

Also I don't seem to have to huge torque spike at 1900 my acceleration seems to be smooth and constant.

But what confuses me the most is it doesn't feel like I've got 170bhp or whatever mapped engines produce!?

I don't know, thanks for reading my caffeine induced ramble and any thoughts are hugely appreciated!

Have a look at North West Skoda meets section of the forum - there is a rolling road meet sometime in March/April - for £20 you will know exactly what your car puts out -

Oh good idea! Cheers!

Alternatively, if you are fairly local you can have a go in mine - it is definately mapped - lol

A VCDS log would indicate a remap? requested vs actual, boost level

Yup under a tenner for a obdII lead and a laptop running free vcds-lite software and you'll be able to tell in no time :)

More info on this please.

I have an OBD2 cable and I downloaded VCDSlite but I can't get it to work, any ideas?

Search eBay for VCDS adapter. They only work with the lite version.

If your ever passing Liverpool I can tell you if it's mapped. Or log group 11. Stock is 1.35bar. If you log group 1. Should be injecting around 47mg at 4krpm.
