Torx E Sockets needed for Fabia?

1/4 is to small to undo a lot of sump plugs etc

Thanks hutch. I thought so, but glad to hear someone in the trade confirm. I'll be trying a 1/2" drive on a T40 to undo a Fabia sump plug. Had a quick go with a Halfords T40 screwdriver a few weeks ago, but it wouldn't budge, so can't see how a T40 on 1/4" wouldn't brake the ratchet.

dont underestimate the 1/4" ratchet im surprised daily how mine is still surviving. i only carry a 1/2" and 1/4" ratchet at work and quite often the 1/2" is too big.....

i use my 1/4" with a little bar and it completes all the jobs you should use a 3/8 ratchet to do

Thanks Holmsie

Is that a T-bar your referring to?

Shame, but that Halfords set doesn't include one. Screwfix have a 1/4 set that does include a T bar, but no Torx drivers (£19.99). Includes a 72 tooth ratchet (think the Halfords stuff is only 45).

nope lol i meant a bit of tube slid over the ratchet handle but really its a very naughty thing to be doing the t bars are pretty good though and im sure you could pick a good one up cheap off ebay.

whether it would work on the sump plug or not im unsure i had 2 spanners linked together to release mine. it was stooopidly tight
