Vrs estate parking sensors?

Featured Replies

Hi

Looking on the auto trader I can't see rear paking sensors on a facelifted vrs. Do they have a camera instead or just nothing? Surely they are not an option when standard on an Elegance?

They were an option on mine, a 2012 ! several hundred pounds if I remember rightly.

Seems a strange thing to leave off the kitlist

For a supposedly top of the line car, the mk2 Octy has always had a rather odd list of options - stuff you'd have thought was standard. But then I suppose its the same with the Golf GTI...

Has the Vrs replaced the L&K at the top now? When I bought, the trade off was you either got that extra 40 bhp or you got a ton of extra toys that were impossible to spec on any other model.

Parking sensors were an option on all vRS's except the Blacklines which came with rears as standard. You had a choice of rear only or front and rear though the latter is quite rare.

You get the optical parking system with these too; see a visual display of how near you are to things on the head unit as well as the usual beeps.

VRS's have different bumpers to the rest of the range and consequently have a different (debateably uglier) sensor unit; they are well known for moisture ingress issues and can show permanently on if they get too wet; one of the sensors on my 2 week old car has done this once but not since and was remedied by being dried by dabbing it with kitchen towel....as it happened it had been washed by the garage to have then stood in torrential rain all night so not to be unexpected.

Oh and its worth noting that the vRS is more or less based on SE spec with all the sporty add ons and two zone climate; an Elegance is technically higher spec as a standard offering.

Wish the vRS had power fold wing mirrors.

Spec on irish cars is generally better than in UK, believe they get light assistant, Bluetooth and rront and rear sensors as standard on their cars; sound system and folding dimming mirrors are optional

^^^ This, the vRS was never the top spec Octavia, it’s the sporty version, but the payoff is it looses some spec as std.

All countries have a slightly different std spec, you gain certain items as std but then loose others, most are reflected in the price of the car as well.

I was always under the impression that the vRS and L&K were joint top of the range. Ones the sporty one, ones the model for old people? Either way, mine must be one of these rare beasts with front & rear sensors :)

Plenty of life left in this 'old' l and k owner ha ha

Not quite.....The L&K gets full leather, heated seats, electric memory drivers seat, and auto dimming rear view and door mirrors, variable boot floor (on the estate anyway), Xenon's and parking sensors over the vRS.

But if you went mad with the options list you could get close to L&K spec on a vRS........although not sure you can get the electric memory drivers seat, and dimming door mirrors (you can get an auto dimming rear view mirror) on the vRS.

Oh, and I don't think "not getting a bruised arse every time I drive down a bumpy road" is available on the vRS options list.......that's why I drive an L&K :giggle:
