Blackvue 380 not working

Featured Replies

Folks, I noticed very early this morning that the Blackvue I picked up in the GB is not currently working properly.

It's connected to an ignition live and on start up and shut down I would normally get the robotic voice telling me its either starting up or shutting down, followed by illumination of the GPS and recording lights.

Instead the LED that surrounds the button on the end is illuminated blue until I press and hold to restart, when it cycles through green/red/blue a couple of times and settles on blue.

Any idea what's happening? It was working on Saturday evening when I disconnected and pulled the memory card to view some footage.

Cheers

Have you remembered to replace the memory card??

Sounds like a dumb question, but I have come across dumber problems in my time.

Is it talking at all?

Is there a card in it?

Did you wipe the card/reformat? (if so it needs time to preload the software back on, a restart can stop that)

What is on the card?

The memory card is in, I haven't formatted it at all. I ejected from my PC on Sunday and put back into the Blackvue. It's not been amended in anyway from factory, so it's just got the software and video on. I drove 18 miles or so to the airport this morning and noticed it hadn't been/wasn't recording so I pulled the power and removed/reinserted the memory card.

Was working fine Saturday, so not sure what the problem could be. Won't get to fiddle around with it until Thursday now.

Tried another power cable or tried something else like a satnav on the Blackvue cable?

I think the plug for the Blackvue is fairly specific to the device. It's definitely getting power though and cycles through its re-start.

Most faults can be resolved by reformatting the micro SD card.

If a light is on the power is getting through.

Do a reformat and if that doesn't work try a new card.

If that doesn't work feel free to send it to me and I'll get it looked at/replaced.

This is why you bought a UK one and not a cheap Korean knock off.

Do you reformat in the Blackvue app then?

I believe there's a program you can download via the Blackvue website that will format the SD cards for you.

Here you go (though not the official Blackvue website):

http://www.blackvuehd.co.uk/Blackvue_SD_card_tips.php

There is a pittasoft (Blackvue) formatter, but I do a full format using the PC.

Either should be OK.

Thanks guys for the help.

This won't format and wipe off the software will it?

Yes (that is the point of formatting it.. to start afresh) When you place the Micro SD card back in the software will be transferred onto the card again.

Oh ok I get it, I naively thought the software/firmware to run the camera was on the card.

Guess who's UK failed though

I dont have any issues with BossFox trying to make some money, arent we all trying??

If these cameras turn out to be any good I will be trying to import a container full of them!!!!!

But BossFox isn't...

Yes, for basic use the 300 looks like an absolute bargain to me.

These are cost prices BTW, I do not earn out of this group buy.

I am doing it because I think on the roads today, with insurance claims the way they are, a Drive Recorder is well worth having and the more people with them the better.

Can we take this to another thread or keep this one on topic? I'm only interested in getting mine working again.

sorry.
