Fuel filter leaking

Featured Replies

Just got home, opened the car door and smelt fuel. Chucked on overalls and grabbed a torch.

The fuel filter is leaking, arrrrrhh. It is not leaking at the connection points. Looks somewhere on the body, probably on a joint that is welded/rolled/fused.

I won't be able to find the leak until I take it off.

It is a BOSCH filter and I only changed it in April 2011.

So that is going to be the afternoon off work for me and a trip to EuroCarParts. Fingers crossed the weather is ok!!

Joy! Have not see this happen before, maybe a defect or was hit by something?

The clip on mine was rotten, so used 2 big cable ties.

Those clips are a right pain. I even bought special pliers to compress the plastic lug's put no way would come off, I had to use long nose pliers in the end. I have replaced filter 3 times and i know next time the clips are going to break....

The filter and surrounding area was bone dry this morning. I started the car and while it was idling I checked all around even moved the jubilee clip incase that was covering the hole, but nothing still dry.

I drove into work (12miles) and checked it in the car park and still dry?? I guess I should still go get a new filter & pick up some flowers on the way for tomorrow while I am at it!

Yeah those clips are clever, but nasty to remove. I can't remember what tool I used last time. Probably long nose pliers. Hand will be too frozen in this weather to squeeze the clips.

Only replaced and 2 years ago don't go together for a filter of any kind IMO. They are cheap enough to replace every service

Oh, I meant the hose/jubilee clip!
