Fuel filler door lock noisy when being locked/unlocked

Featured Replies

When I lock and unlock my car, the lock inside the fuel cap area that restricts the fuel filler door being opened when the car is locked makes a quite loud grindy sound.

It takes away from the nice "beep beep" the car makes when locking/unlocking, and more to the point makes me wonder if something is not quite right. Is this normal?

The actuator is quite noisy anyway; can certainly hear it on my 2 week old car when locked/unlocked. If youre concerned go to the garage and ask them to take a look but i suspect its all OK

I believed that there is a small amount of adjustment in the lock and it sounds as though it needs a bit of a tweak.

Agreed, let the dealer have a look.
