Need new bushes all round, upgrade or OEM? Experiences?

Featured Replies

Morning all,

My car is coming up for 7 years old with 55k (2.0 TFSI VRS) and although running great it's starting to feel a bit tired and rattly / knocking in places so I'm looking to get all the Roll bar & suspension bushes changed where possible.

First of all has anyone done this, and what did you do? Did you upgrade to Powerflex / Polybush or did you go for OEM? I'm not overly fussed about Poly bushes as the car's never going to go on track or get driven that hard so I'd probably be fine with the OEM versions and I imagine they would be a lot cheaper although labour is hard work.

Where's best to buy the standard replacements? Is there a list or diagram anywhere showing which ones are required for the car so I know what to order?

All I've changed so far are the rear drop links which did remove a knocking sound but the whole car still feels / sounds a bit "loose" if you know what I mean....

Would be great to tighten everything up again!

Thanks

Superpro are good on the front wishbones but otherwise I think I'd just go OEM rubber.

I don't see anything wrong with the bushes, except that the rear wishbone console bushes wear a lot and if you put solid ones in there (as the mechanic suggested) then you should put the same in the front bushes as they'll wear out otherwise.

I went Superpro and the loose feel went straight away. But i'd go standard if I did it again. The Superpro aren't really harsh but they do transmit a liitle more road noise, feel to the car. The Octavia doesn't need any extra road noise etc.

Would'nt mind changing the bushes on mine as there's loads of speed bumps round where i live and getting a bit tired of the knockings i get when driving over them, is it a big job and would i have to pay much labour at a garage to have these replaced. I'm pretty rubbish at mechanics, apart that is from changing service bits and bob's

.

Wouldn't mind sorting mine out as the car is 6 years old and 61K. Starting to feel sloppy on the suspension too. I'd go OEM again though for bushes.
