Suspension arm bushes

Featured Replies

I have two advisories for both the nearside and offside suspension arm bushes on my VRS.

Can anyone recommend the best bushes to buy to replace these?

Cheers.

Powerflex poly bushes.

Best and easiest option.

Do be aware that powerflex or any solid bush is likely to increase vibration on diesel engines, as another member reviewed. Obviously it all depends on your own definitition of noise, as not all people who fit them report problems.

VAG have made an upgraded 'X' bush that supercedes the rubbishy 'I' ones that most people are replacing, myself included. Part number is 1K0 407 183.

Go for the 'X' bush. Far stronger than the original and NOT noisy like the cupra R bush (solid rubber).

I have two 1.4 TDI's, I tried the powerflex bushes, far too noisy, it was either change back to OEM Skoda ones or settle for a divorce, I changed the bushes.

Cool, thanks for the replies.

I think I'll probably go for the X bushes. Does anyone have any idea how much they cost?

I bought mine here last week, he's still got one pair left. At £13 it's a steal! They normally go for £10 each which is cheap enough.

Sounds like a good deal. I should probably go for them then.

Cheers for the help.

That is a bargain!

I paid £19.44 delivered for mine and thought that was cheap. Good find.

It was thanks to your thread that I steered (hah) clear of ordering a set of Powerflex when I was literally just about to hit the buy button! I'm all for retaining whatever noise damping these small hatches have.

Literally just bought that last set on eBay, thanks for the link.

I was going to go for Powerflex ones too until you told me about these.

So are these going to last well, and be stiffer than the standard ones? was planning on going super pro all round but all this talk of noise scares me!

I have just had fitted some Powerflex front wishbone bushes and there is absolutely no increase in vibration because of them, just my experience so far. They are a fair bit more expensive than the Cupra bushes though so don't blame you for going with them.

It appears that the noise problem affects the 1.4 TDI more than the other cars.

Probably because the 1.4 is 3 cylinder
