Bored of my gutless hiss-wagon

Featured Replies

Well I posted a topic a week or so ago regarding discovering a nasty black tuning box during my car's first service with me as the owner...

My car has always had a nasty hiss on boost (especially when warm) which I cannot source or diagnose.

I thought I had gotten rid of it by removing the tuning box which of course reduced fueling and in turn would have reduced boost pressure slightly...but it wasn't to be!

Now my car just feels like all the power goes into the hiss and not into the wheels and it's made me seriously bored with my Fabia vrs and just feels like a lightly torqued diesel perhaps similar to old turbo diesel 306's I used to own.

I've had a look through the paperwork I got with the car and I've discovered a possible clue to a broken bracket on intercooler in 2011 causing hole...but inspecting intercooler revealed no broken bracket..just an old bit of intercooler bracket underneath current intercooler bracket...(if that makes sense)...

I don't want to sell but honestly am getting tempted....what should I do?!!

It's got to be a boost leak and I must be able to find it somehow. There's something not quite right with her!

Hope someone can help restore my love for the skoda!

Buy a fmic and get custom pipework. I had nothing but problems with the oem pipework. Car will pull better too.

And if your feeling really rich buy a hybrid turbo these things turn into animals!

Boost leak!! That will be ur hiss ;)

Smoke test! Will reveal the leak! :)

Take it to a garage and get it fixed?

+1 - Pay someone else to fault it :)

Smoke test sounds like a good idea! Time to get

under the car again :o

Youll need to get someone to do the smoke test - Basically the system is pressurised and smoke filled to show any leaks :)

Get a vcds cable and log boost actual vs requested. Vcds will be able to help you diagnose it. Don't pay a garage when you can diagnose it yourself. Also did you try removing the negative battery lead for a hour to reset the ecu?.
