easiest way to get to aerial base?

Featured Replies

Got a new aerial base to fit to try and improve radio reception, but had a look the other day and couldn't see the best and easiest way to get to it.

So anyone know?

I replaced mine yesterday, was pretty simple.

I removed the centre headrest, then popped off the center plastic trim holding the rear of the roof lining up, then carefully unclipped the c-pillar trims on both sides.

Once that was done, I opened both rear doors and pulled the door seals down and then opened the boot and carefully pulled down the roof lining.

Got a 22mm socket and undid the retaining nut on the old areial, followed the wiring back and unclicped the connector.

Just don't put too much pressure on the roof lining, otherwise you will crease it.

Refitting is the reverse of removal :D

+1 .

That is exactly how I did mine, And do be careful not to pull roof lining down too much, there is not a lot of space but is possible.

Also the center plastic roof trim is a nightmare to remove as the metal clips are well in.

2 ways to remove

1. Just lever a flat screwdriver underneath and pull it off(. If plastic lugs break just get new trim at less than a tenner

2. Carefully lever with screwdriver and then press together the metal clips with long / small nose pliers and slowly pull down. Trim will live another day

Thanks mate, how does the rear head lining panel come off i had a look and looks like it slides to one side but i couldn't get it to!

Has it improved reception?

See bowders post for your answer to the trim piece, I just got my fingers under the edge and pulled it off, and I only broke 1 clip so it went back on ok :)

As for reception i've not driven the car anywhere yet, but it did seem better at home.

That's the bit I am talking about. It does not slide sideways it is clipped in well and truly tight.

I changed mine and reception was good on driveway, and I thought i fixed it then drove away and back to crud reception. Turned out both ariel's were suspect when i changed for a 3rd one.

Well if it's still not right, it will go back, as I bought a brand new 1 from the stealers :D

Sorry to bring up a old thread but this centre rear trim is off on mine as I changed the bootlid. All the metal clips are attached to my car. I can't get them out. Help?

Just changed mine today. First open the boot, Get a small flathead screwdriver and place it on the back of the clip. Apply force and use the additional space with the boot open to lift the screwdriver higher. It will pop out, probably very hard and fast but wont hurt.
