Brake pads again....apologies for this :)

Featured Replies

Cant afford a 312mm setup that is out of the question unfortunately, even if the carriers/callipers could be picked up for

EBC greens, if you must. Although some of the Mintex stuff ain't bad. You might also wish to consider some Pagid Blues. I'm sure someone was doing a good deal on them and they are good pads.

For me, I'd go Pagids, and some Castrol Super DOT 4 fluid.

Excellent, why not the EBC Green Stuff? AmD recommend them on their web site.

Green Stuff had intial good bite but faded quickly on my Corrado. And only lasted about 10K miles.

Pagid FR pads were better. Was gonna buy some at GTI International, but nobody had the correct part no for the Fabia vRS!

Might get some DS2500's if I have some spare cash!!:D

DS2500 I believe would be ultimately the best, but for that money you can get the callipers/carriers for the 312mm conversion, I assume

Are you after show or go? Any race pads will just lock up the ABS at every braking unless you have R-compound tyres ,if you use them as intended. If used to the full they will only last 500 miles. I am using standard pads at the Nordschleife & braking is ok if you don't do more than 30 miles of full pace at a time.

ds2500 are great on the track but crap on the road. If you can make them last 10000miles you aren't using them.

Above opinion is base on 5000 racing miles last year & overtaking entire Civic R club in my Furby on Tuesday night at the Ring. They all had trick brakes but never used them.

If you want to spend money, spend it on the suspension; that needs attention.

So, Pagid are good are they? Better than standard Audi TT pads? :)

I didn't rate the EBC Green Stuff I ran on my Scooby, but apparently there's a new version out now which addresses all their shortcomings and comes highly rated by the tuners .... there was a thread about them on here recently :D

Chris

I still reckon they ain't really any better than standard, just less dusty. But hey, I managed to set a pair of red stuff on fire on my RS :D

I am running EBC Greens on a 312mm set up.

Day to day driving their porbably no better than any other pad.

With brisk driving when they get hot the bite is immense!

One huge plus point with them is the brake dust is pretty much zero, I havent washed my alloys in two weeks and you there spotless, whereas on my old pads they would be grey/almost black.

I am very impressed with them but then their the first 'performance pad' ive had, so I cant compare them to others, and I do have them with 312's.

HTH :)

I use the 4nch0r pads, absolutley unbelievable stopping power cheap to, just go down to your local dock yard and you can pick them up for free

anchor.jpg No need for these babies to warm up :D

Added benefit of the 4nch0r pads is that you can cancel your gym membership.

The downside is that not only do they slow you down when you use them, you have to get out and retrieve after each application, also, getting the "balance/bias" right is a pig of a job and that's why I don't use them.

I was after these but due to the weight of them and the lardy weight of the car, I dont know if I would get up to speed enough to warrent having it... :(

Oh behave :grumpy:

You have a Fabia RS  If Thrustt SSC need a parachute or 2 how can you compromise by not fitting the 4nch0r pads to something with an even greater performance potential?*

* I know, I know, the Thrust might have you on top speed, but you just *know* that you'll have him in the twisties :D

On a marginally more serious note than the 4nch0r pads, have you thought of trying the new EBC Burberrystuff pads? I know they are deffo available in the Fabia pad size :D

Fabia brake pad size:

Look for the pads for a VW, Audi or Seat with the same engine as the brakes are more often than not the same set up.

So the Fabia vRS pads are also on the Ibiza FR & Sport 130, VW Polo Gt, Golf in both 115 & 130 bhp diesel versions, etc.

Coupled with the Burberry disks they work a treat :D

Correct except for the golf which uses the same calipers as the Octy, Leon A3 etc.
