Injector Cleaning? Does it work?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Does anyone have any experience of injector cleaning (take em out job), whether it is worth it and what sort of prices are reasonable?

Problem:

I have a strange issue where when the car is first started it is as rough as rats, almost like its missfiring.

It stumbles, rocks the engine and will not idle smooth until warm. Oddly though power is good when cold, so suggests the injectors are able to dump fuel in ok.

Solutions thus far:

I've had a good lot checked (EGR - cleaned replaced, Glowplugs - Brand new, Injector and glowplug loom - Brand new, fuel and water temp sensors - new, etc) yet nothing has touched the issue. Tried new fuel filter and run copious amounts of injector cleaner through it.

In VCDS, if I drop the idle revs to around 700 when cold it practically stalls out. It's that rough!

When fully up to temp things are fine and its pretty smooth (for a 2.0 PD ;)). Power is good. MPG easily 50+ mpg.

As per the VCDS print out so you think it could be injector 4 thats shot...or going that way? Worth cleaning the injectors or is it time to bite the bullet and replace it?

Cheers for any advice.

It depends what's going wrong with it.

Cleaning works well if the spray pattern is out of there are deposits in the injector.

It has to be a proper sonic clean though.

I'd suggest trying an injector cleaner, (forte or similar) chucked in the fuel filter housing at the same time as cleaning that all out and putting a new fuel filter in.

Yup, sorry, will edit to say these have also been tried.

I thought this was covered under warranty?

VOSA recall on the 2.0 pd injectors?

Didn't think it was for the 2.0 PD 140 - different injectors AFAIK. Besides, an 06 with 115k on the clock, chances of me getting brand new injectors ;)

Call skoda & find out, there is no mileage limit & service history is irrelevant

3 & 4 look odd when cold.

Octy PD 140 has Bosch injectors not the skanky faulty Siemens ones.

Recall was the pd170 only (VRS only)
