25k

It's one thing having 25k to spend on a car, you've then got to run & maintain said car.

I wonder whether the depreciation of buying a new 25k car outweighs the running and maintenance costs of a 25k car that has already done a significant portion of its depreciation. I guess a factor is how long you plan to keep the car...

No offense but if I had £25 to spend on a second 'toy' car it wouldn't be a superb 4x4

The theory was if I get a jag or similar prestige marque for the £25k these cars would have already lost £10 k within 2 minutes of registration, the superb would have lost a similar amount so a good superb might be way under £20 k ?

All depends on what you want out of a car and what kind of running costs you could cope with. £25k gets you all kinds of things - 911s, RS4s, Mustangs, quick things with AMG badges on etc - just about anything!

I take it from the shortlist though you want something reasonably economical to waft around in?

So my suggestion - A4 S-Line 3.0 Quattro. Lovely cars - head and shoulders above a Superb...

Had a rethink. Bin the BMW 5 series and put your name down for a new scout. Be first on the waiting list. CR150 engine (speculation) DSG and 4x4. For 25k spec it up with leather and sat nav. What else would you need? No doubt they will hold their value well like the current one so its a decent investment also and a sought after car.

Much as I love my VRS, it's just not 'toy' car material. Needs about another 200hp for that.
