Spare Wheel Pricing

Featured Replies

Some of you are about to get a letter (if you live in the midlands and purchased from a Listers dealer) regarding the pricing of spare wheels and tool kits.

(I'm printing them as I type - 1600 personalised for Listers Group)

Thought it may interest others on here:

Octavia excluding L&K, VRS, and Scout 2009 onwards: Spare Wheel/Tyre: £94 Tool Kit: £30 inc VAT

Fabia 2010 onwards: Spare Wheel/Tyre: £94 Tool Kit: £30 inc VAT

Roomster 2010 onwards: Spare Wheel/Tyre: £94 Tool Kit: £30 inc VAT

Octavia L&K, VRS, and Scout 2009 onwards: Spare Wheel/Tyre: £101 Tool Kit: £30 inc VAT

Superb 2008 onwards: Spare Wheel/Tyre: £101 Tool Kit: £34 inc VAT

Yeti 2009 onwards: Spare Wheel/Tyre: £136 Tool Kit 2WD/4WD (different part numbers): £120 inc VAT

The letter explains all the BBC watchdog stuff and people not realising they don't even have a spare.

Rob

Luckily the previous owner of my vRS ordered the spare and tool kit as an option.

The joys of email over Royal Mail!

Came through this morning from DM Keith so I'm assuming the reduced cost price from Skoda UK is being offered to all franchisee's?

A little cheaper too :giggle:

£120 for just the tool kit for the Yeti?! Is that a typo?

That must mean a man is in the boot to change your wheel for you it you need it.

£158 for a citigo spare wheel emoticon-0104-surprised.gif. They must be having a laugh.

I was always ordering a fair few options on my Octy vRS back in 2011. However the "space saver spare" option was the very first one ticked.

It was a no-brainer in my opinion.

No typo £120 for the yeti tool kit!

Ordered mine. Pick up on Friday.

Phoned DMKeith to check that the spare as offered will be compatible with my Fabia Greenline 2. They phoned back to say that the spare is a Continental Contact 2 on a steel wheel (the Greenline has alloys), and that it has a sticker saying that it is restricted to 50mph. They say that is not a 'get you home' tyre, so no reason given for the speed restriction advice.

Is this just Skoda covering their back, or is there a good reason? (btw I'd be quite happy to use the steel as a temporary replacement should I puncture).

EDIT - sorry, posted in Octavia thread by mistake (new to forum) - but any thoughts on this topic generally would be appreciated.

So is this an offer available from all dealers? I may get one from mitchells if so.

It is an EU legal thing not a Skoda thing, if you run different sized tyres or rims on same axle you are limited to 80kph regardless of the compound or speed rating of tyre. Googling around there have been fatal accidents attributed to the mixed use. The law allows you to use them as a spare but restricts you to the speed etc. Good thing is Skoda could have fired one of those bicycle wheels in with a soft compound tyre, but they instead opted for one that would likely out last the life of the car.

Thank you - have now order the spare wheel kit.

My 2008 came with a full size alloy spare as standard.

Most older models come with the spare, they removed them to save costs as every other manufacturer had done the same.

Comes with a Trunk Monkey

Mine had the steel spare wheel and kit when I bought it but I was lucky enough to chance upon a single 17" zenith alloy on ebay for £65 so now have matching alloy spare wheel
