Water under the laquer?

Featured Replies

Looks like water/air has somehow got under the laquer on my spoiler

Is it the kind of thing that can be left or will it cause issues if left?

Edited by ryan-re

It will continue to lift the laquer if left, usually it happens from a stone flicking over the car and chipping it, water then gets under the laquer and it will lift it off

I think its a very common issue on the VRS, I am sure I have heard people mention the spoilers de-laminating many times. Not sure if anyone gets any warranty help on young cars, might be worth a search. If no obvious damage caused to start it off.

I had a look round the area and cant see anything

I guess it only takes a tiny chip to just go through the laquer to start it off

I might give them a bell on monday. Wont hold my breath though as its not got full service history

I think i'll give skoda uk a ring on monday and see if i get anyware.

Its not got full service history as I said but its always worth a shot

Looking at the skoda website the paint warranty is only 3 years but the anti-perferation warranty is 12 years but I guess that is rust and not imperfections like this. Just have to see how I get on

Happened to me and went thought skoda hq...they said no as outside 3 years...if about a £100 respray and one it starts you cannot stop it (:

when did you ask and what age car was it?

There was a member in the thread linked above with a 2006 vrs and in 2012 got a free replacement via skoda uk

Fabia VRS suffers the same too. Quite common.

Tried to claim about 4 months a go...full history as well but the car had done 120k. Maybe that went against me lol
