Paint coming off

Featured Replies

Are there any know issues with paintwork,

my Room is just on a month old , today I notice that the paint has started to come off the rear bumper by the mud flaps , above the nearside door it looks almost transparent to the undercoat, the same on the "B" pillar on the driver side, inside.

Damm these lighter evenings.

Looks like another trip to the dealer. :|

Had to have the bonnet resprayed on our previous 2010 Fabia due to paint flaking (covered by warranty) at just under two years old and I have read one or two Fabia/Octavia posts re flaking bumper paint having to be fixed also under warranty.

Hope you get it sorted,

TP

I was going to fit the skid plates today , but I think I'll wait until this is resolved, PTA having to trailer it in to Aberdeen

Id be interested to know how you get on with the dealers and warranty claim. Im having a similar issue with paint on the rear arches of my new octy VRs and so far the dealer has told me it was due to stone chips, and then he told me I had rubbed the paint off some how (??)

warrranty claim declined from Skoda. I have the details to complain but havent got round to it yet. Im going to take some more pictures and send them back to skoda as im sure the paint on the opposite wheel arch is going to go the same way sooner or later (that hasnt come off yet but is so thin i can see white underneath it)

Looks like Roomster's post 2008 seem to have more faults than the earlier ones!

Dealer started off with the must have happened after it left the showroom line , however, when he looked at the bumper with his finger he removed more paint.

Upshot is he's been told to sort it within a time scale,it been left with him I am short of transport and expect a loan car. I dont do faffing about and pointed out the 30 day rejection clause in the sale contract.

We will see what happens.

Had a meeting at the dealer today re the paint. I took a coating expert ( benefit of the Oil & Gas sector ! ) with me . With his tester he measured paint thickness in a few locations.

The results did not come up to the VAG spec.

Respray imminent

The only other posting about this subject will be of either sucsess or failure as per the agreement we have come to.

Looks like you have to get the first punch in and be hard with it.

How did you find out what the spec was freddy?

Had some peeling paint on the plastic Scout trim on n/s wheel arch. They replaced the trim under warranty, no argument.

My mates mum has a Scout version of the Fabia estate.............same problem.......dealer fixed straight away under warranty............those add on Scout bits are clear plastic which is spray painted........................I thought they were self coloured plastic like the old black plastic bumpers!.

I thought they were self coloured plastic like the old black plastic bumpers!.

Me too. It was one of the reasons I chose the Scout over the SE.

I only discovered the black bits were painted after the electronic handbrake on my neighbour's VW "malfunctioned" :giggle: and his car rolled into the back of mine.

Anybody know the warranty on alloy wheels? Just noticed some flaking on the front offside wheel.
