loss in mpg vrs

Featured Replies

Hi guys, have noticed a drop in mpg since I've had the car and done 7000 miles. Have been told the egr is faulty but doesn't affect the running of the engine, could this be the reason. Have also changed the fuel filter which helped a little bit. Thanks.

Has it been serviced recently? Had new tyres?

It had two new front tires 2 months ago, which has put the tracking out a little bit and it had an oil and filter service in October

Tyre pressures?

Checked those, they're fine :/

changing tyres / wheels wont but the tracking out??? but if you bashed a wheel while driving that would .....

winter diesel has alot of different adatives in it you may notice mpg go down a little with winter diesel tyres also make a big difference in fuel consumption. also with the weather being cold the car will take longer to warm up so use more diesel....

How far do you drive in one go? When the temps are this low it takes a good 10 mikes to get the coolant up to temp and longer to get the oil up to temp. If you're not doing a decent run each time you won't get anywhere near stated mpg's and that's before you factor in a 10c change can alter your pressure by 1psi or winter fuel additive package or fill discrepancies. If you haven't averaged your figures over a minimum of 3-4 full tanks then don't get excited.

Lol yeah well ever since it went in for new tyres it's been pulling left, very strange. But yeah I do really short journeys most of the time, less than 10 miles. But on long runs I used to average 60mpg, but now around 52-54

Not had this issue on the fabia but I had unexplained MPG drop with my previous diesel and was advised to do an oil change. I took the pee but did it anyway and hey presto! It jumped back up 10 mpg!! :) (on the computer lol)

Ignore the computer, it's not always accurate, calculate 3-4 brimmed fills, from that you should have a better idea of what you are actually getting.
